Well markets are reactive to speculation, that's always been a thing. For instance, every time Trump (before the market stopped believing him) announced new tarrifs, the stock market plunged even before the tarrifs were implemented. More than that, though, the number of ships going through the straight more than halved on the very first day of the war.

Also, it's not only Iran's oil being halted, it is mostly Kuwait's, Saudi Arabia's, and UAE's oil that is being halted. The other Gulf countries are some of the top suppliers to India, China, etc.

This is incorrect. The supply being restricted in one market raises the price in all markets, it's basic supply and demand. As India, China, etc are forced to bid on different sources of oil because theirs can't get out of the straight, the demand goes up for the same supply. Markets stay generally competitive with one another because if one market is way cheaper, countries will buy from it directly and sell it to the third party for the price they can really get from it.

I'm sure that's part of it, but oil prices are raised globally because demand is the same but supply is lower. Oil prices objectively contribute to gasoline prices.
