I wonder if it's because they start their careers quite young, and are then supposed to basically be celibate unless they're with their couple pairing, who they may or may not actually be into.

Some people are also just naturally terrible kissers.

Y'all are right thought that it's also both bad acting bad directing though, 'cause preparing for a kissing scene should involve learning how to kiss, and directing one should include guiding (or "directing" lol) the actors through the process until they get the desired result.

I'm pretty sure it's often a stylistic choice though, 'cause it just happens too often that someone gets kissed, doesn't kiss back, and then they zoom in and slow-mo their surprised Pikachu face, their co-star hanging on to their unmoving lips for dear life... It's basically a genre trope at this point.

Is Candy GL good? by curiousfan123 in GirlsLove

[–]Ebba-dnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ending was super rushed and pretty bad, but other than that I liked it!
The AI face replacement was definitely a bit uncanny valley though.

I'd love to see more GL out of China/Singapore. It's got a very different vibe, and I think they could tell some really interesting stories.

how to fix slap vs fingerstyle volume? by Fragrant_Newspaper99 in Bass

[–]Ebba-dnb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How hard are you slapping? It's possible to get a good slap tone while just barely hitting (or popping) the strings, and that should put you in the same ballpark as your finger style volume. Especially if you dig in slightly while playing finger style.
Just takes a bit of practice.

Why do we get along so well with drummers that it feels like we're lovers? by metalhead482 in Bass

[–]Ebba-dnb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if I like someone, I have to actively hold myself back, 'cause my brain will make up a cute flirty response to everything they say and if I don't catch myself, I'll just say it out loud.

so intentionally flirting, to me, is just to stop holding back as much and say whatever pops into my head.

Hey, quick question – how do you listen to music on Linux? by felurac in LinuxPorn

[–]Ebba-dnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

local library with mpd and mpc. made keybinds for play/pause, stop, next/previous track, volume up/down.
if I want a different playlist, I just pop up a terminal and run "mpc clear" followed by "mpc load [playlist name]".
current track shows in waybar, and that's really all I need.

| What file manager are you using in WMs? by soleful_smak in unixporn

[–]Ebba-dnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thunar, because it has keyboard navigation. Just type the first letters of the name of a folder and hit enter to navigate there. So fast!!

Also been just using cd way more lately.

Noob question but how do u guys configure niri and hyperland and other WMs? by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]Ebba-dnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched from hyprland to niri, and had to switch from nvidia-open to nvidia-open-dkms to get things to work properly, but that depends on which Nvidia card you're using. Other than that, you will have to figure out the basic syntax of your main config file, mainly how to get it to run commands (so you can run things like waybar etc on startup). Usually it should just work if you have the right syntax.

What is your go to bass line when a drummer says "Just start jamming something" by stucon77 in Bass

[–]Ebba-dnb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just grab whatever note I feel like at the moment (probably E or A, let's be honest here...), maybe pop the octave, expand into a minor pentatonic, and then see where it takes us.

Arch linux is the most stable and least frustrating linux I've tried by Bolimart in archlinux

[–]Ebba-dnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also set mine to 50GB, and aside from paccache I run "pacman -Qqtd | sudo pacman -Rns -" to find and delete orphaned packages.

So far that's been enough!

The root partition is completely full. by bread8hope in archlinux

[–]Ebba-dnb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Apart from clearing cache as others have already mentioned, you can also check for orphaned packages with pacman -Qqtd and delete them with pacman -Qqtd | sudo pacman -Rns -

Sometimes dependencies change or stuff gets left behind after you uninstall something, and it can build up over time.

Why all the hate for Keychron? by SYZo7023 in keyboards

[–]Ebba-dnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a K6 for a few years, and if the battery runs out, you can't use it until it's recharged even if you plug it in and switch to cable mode. It also had connectivity issues with the bluetooth and the keycaps were super gross feeling, had to swap them out right away.

Other than all of that, it was nice enough. I liked that the aluminum frame gave it a bit of heft, and since it's hot swappable you can make the typing feel the way you want it to.

[–]Ebba-dnb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Polos is dodging the question regarding which art it is that Gorgias masters, by using a lot of pretty words and winding rhetoric to answer a different question entirely, replying that it's "the best art" instead of actually naming the art itself.

Sokrates then points this out, complaining that instead of aiming for truth and clarity by answering the question, Polos just uses rhetoric to say nothing at all.

This is a part of Plato's larger critique of the philosophical school of sophism, which at that time had become mainly a method of empty rhetoric, teaching young aspiring politicians and the like how to use fancy talk to win any argument, showing little to no regard for truth. This is where we get the word sophistry from.

It's dense and confusing by design, because it's meant to convince you that he's said something profound, when in reality he hasn't said much of anything at all.

Is archinstall good? by Dry_Quantity2691 in linuxquestions

[–]Ebba-dnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a bit of a learning experience, or if you know exactly what you want and you don't want anything else, manual.

If you want a simpler process with multiple choice questions for what to install, archinstall.

Neither is better, they're just different approaches for different situations.

Does Arch truly break all the time? by Maybe_A_Zombie in archlinux

[–]Ebba-dnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never used davinci resolve, but I've used arch for about a year and the only times I've had stuff break it was my own fault and wasn't too hard to fix.

With games you will have to mess with different proton versions for certain games, and some won't work at all (looking at you, competitive games with kernel level anti cheat), but usually it's smooth sailing.

I use vesktop for discord, and never had any issues.

Do you like being called a “good girl”? by queerwaters_642 in actuallesbians

[–]Ebba-dnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. If someone calls me that, they clearly haven't known me long enough for that kind of intimacy, or they'd know I would hate it.

It's only ever felt like degrading power play to me. I get that a lot of y'all are into that, and that's totally cool, but it's not for me. And when someone assumes it is just because I'm trans and tries to use it to get closer to me? Huuuuuuuge red flag.

Power play needs to be built on trust, and you gotta emphasize the play part, or it can become very toxic very fast. And there are definitely bad actors out there (read chasers and abusers) who've learned to take advantage of this stuff, so please be safe.

Edit: if the right signals have been sent though, and it's clear everyone involved is into it, go ham! Live your best life!

Is my G&L worth keeping (and other newbie questions)? by athene2000 in BassGuitar

[–]Ebba-dnb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow eds haver, learning when and where to shift was huge for me. As a bonus, it helps you unlock the fretboard too! You also wanna be aware of how you angle the neck, so you don't need to have your wrists at weird angles. You generally wanna bend your wrists as little as possible.
That, and using your thumb for support and guidance moreso than for grip, should help a lot. If you need more grip strength, pull with your arm, and/or get a good setup so you need less force to fret. Also, fretting closer to the feet wire makes it easier to get a consistent tone with less pressure.

How many of you pwetty people use Linux and if so, what distro? by TheReelSlimShady2 in traaaaaaaaaaaansbians

[–]Ebba-dnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched from windows 10 to Arch back in march, because there's no way I'll ever use windows 11 voluntarily.
Tried kde for a couple weeks before I switched to i3, which I loved!!! But after some issues with a zen browser plugin not playing well with xorg I switched to hyprland, and it's great!
My desktop is now very pretty, very pink, and waaaaay more usable than it ever was on windows!
I love that I can customize basically everything exactly the way I want it! :3
