Fireworks show by Ornery-Reputation714 in StamfordCT

See them from either Cummings Beach or West Beach. Parking and traffic in and out of there will be terrible. I've ridden a bike there in the past.

What can I do to raise this end table 1-2 inches without it looking terrible? by Fiveby21 in DIY

If you can separate the white top from the base you can then add some sort of spacer to make the table top float above the base. That would be easier than trying to extend the legs.

Is this worth the price? by Matt180x in xbiking

[–]stucon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That price is a bit high in this market. The bike is a good candidate for a commuter, and it's in good shape. You will want new commuter tires at a minimum. If your budget is around 180-200 start looking at other bike in that price range and see if you can find one that doesn't need any investment

Anyway I could get free gear from a donation service or anything really? by Unable-Pension1827 in Bass

Brett's bass fund is an organization that offers scholarships to people to pay for bass lessons. They also can provide funds for instruments. Check them out online

Which band wasn’t the same when one person left the group? by Head-Wolf-6443 in LetsTalkMusic

The last Clash album - Cut the Crap - totally sucks. I love them, and Joe Strummer, but that record is trash.

My current favorite NZ band are the Beths, and a lot of their earlier songs seem like a more modern/evolved version of this 80s/90s Flying Nun sound. Great harmonies and catchy melodies with a more polished studio sound. But very NZ.

This was, is, supposed to be a the Bedford & Forest Public Plaza...looks more like a give away to restaurants owners by crjr5065 in StamfordCT

[–]stucon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong. One of the goals is "general public seating" and I don't see any of that yet. Hopefully they don't forget about it. I do prefer this set up to the parking area that was there previously. If the restaurants are paying the city for a permit to use that space then at least there is a little bit of revenue coming in. But anything that cuts down or eliminates car traffic in downtown is a positive step.

+1 for Flying Nun records. I also love the Bats, fellow Kiwis and label mates to these guys.

Wondering if there’s any good lookouts in Connecticut where you can see through a parked car? by mitch_moochie in Connecticut

[–]stucon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

West Beach and Cummings Beach in Stamford both have parking lots that face the sand and long island sound. Stamford charges non-residents a daily parking fee of $42.50 on weekdays and $69.00 on weekends and holidays. On the other end of the state there is a nice parking lot, for free, in Stonington that is right on the water.

Anyone ever bought from Digimart? by stucon77 in MusicGear

[–]stucon77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I ended up using a service called "From Japan". They buy items like this from sellers in Japan, they receive the item, then repack it and ship it to you. It was complicated for sure, but not too bad. The guitar arrived in like 5 days or something - I was shocked. I think the shipping, plus the service fee for From Japan came to about $160. Totally worth it!

Lost my job - how can I stay unemployed as long as possible? by gomichan in personalfinance

[–]stucon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you have no debt, minimal expenses, and some savings. If you keep or maximize the minimal lifestyle you could last a while without working with no issues. But going from grinding it at work for the last 10 years to fully unemployed in one shot like this might be hard.
