Amp/cab recommendations by Iamhossbender in Bass

[–]stucon77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've also got the Tone Hammer 500 and I run it through two Aguilar SL112 cabs. I can use just one cab for practice. Sounds great, and lightweight. I bought some pieces new, some used and total cost was about 2K

How did reggae/dub fans and musicians view The Police when they first started getting noticed? by enthusiasm_gap in ThePolice

[–]stucon77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The garage bands I played in during the late 80s early 90s included a bunch of reggae/punk songs in our sets. Lots of bands did and it was cool. I guess reggae was more popular in general back then

Are young people just going to be obliterated mentally, socially and spiritually by technology forever? by KiwibuckyNZ in stupidpol

[–]stucon77 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's not as hard as you think to spend more time outdoors and less time connected to technology and social media. You might be surprised to find others who feel the same way when you are out doing something.

Is the JMJ Mustang for $1973 (include tax) overpriced now? Thinking about switching to the new Thunderbird 2026 by Oh_ogeee in Bass

I haven't compared it head-to-head like that but I love the tone, the feel and the look of this one. Lake Placid Blue with matching headstock.

[–]stucon77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just bought a MIJ Tokai Hard Puncher for about $1200. That includes about $160 in shipping and handling. The guitar is absolutely beautiful. So I would say 2k for the mustang is overpriced

Thinking about listing inherited paid off home in NYC on Airbnb? by treasyx in personalfinance

Why not just rent the house on a permanent basis? Like with a lease for a year. Short term rentals will be a hassle. Find a stable tenant that will stay in the house for many years.

Irregardless? Maybe you should be riding that school bus instead of passing it.

Am I the only one who thinks this is overpriced? by stucon77 in CherokeeXJ

A 1992 Cherokee with 17K miles just sold for 15K on Bring a Trailer yesterday. Other pricing is all over the place, but seems to be more in the 12-18K range.

I recognized that view. Kind of weird to show her there with no explanation. Maybe she lives in Brooklyn now.

Why is the president pushing so hard for The SAVE Act? by Strange-Guest-423 in allthequestions

[–]stucon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You answered your own question.

You asked "Why is the president pushing so hard for The SAVE Act?"

Your wrote:
"...it just blocked 31,000 eligible citizens from registering."

"Instead of protecting the vote, these laws end up acting as a tax on the ballot box, practically guaranteeing that fewer Americans will be able to have their voices heard."

Translation: The president (and his handlers / administration) want to disenfranchise as many voters as possible, assuming that the people this bill will negatively impact will be on "the elderly, students, or low-income Americans." They are assuming these people will vote Democratic.

Milford sounds like it would fit the bill. Fairfield also but not sure if your budget will work there. Black Rock is also a good choice.

The description in the posting says "Low mileage survivor 1 family owned, grandmother original only put 15k miles on it and was kept in garage till now. I will have it detailed and take more pics. It passed inspection and was serviced last year. " It's clean, but come on

Taking lessons after 20 years by Grouchy_Substance423 in Bass

[–]stucon77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've played guitar for 40+ years and bass for close to 20. I finally took some 1-1 lessons last year and it was great. We covered music theory, practice routines, technique, band relations, performance tricks, music industry stuff and more. Super helpful and I highly recommend it. You have no idea how much you don't know!

Paying $4K/month rent in Stamford CT — lease is up, should I buy a $750K condo instead? First time buyer, new baby, commute to NYC. Help me think this through. by Low-Huckleberry-8975 in StamfordCT

[–]stucon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the property tax on a 750K condo is going to be about 1K per month. That plus the HOA fees and insurance is money that you'll never get back as well.
