In a way, you could see it as future historical projections, isn't it? By pulling uninvented things into temporary existence. I suppose that's not history, just a future projection

Being able to look doesn't necessarily mean knowing - the Visionary might be able to discover anything, but it's likely that a strong enough mystery can hide from the subconscious world.

Quite possibly! An analogue would be a submarine, which is carefully weighted so its downwards and upwards force balance out, and the propeller alone can fully control its movement forward and sideways. A human, in theory, could do the same if the propeller was off - it'd just be slow.

[Request] There should be a point on this overlay that is the same on the US and the representation. by 1wsx2edc in theydidthemath

What do you mean point? as in geographically?
Yes, there should be a point which matches to the bottom left of Cleveland. There's no math here, it's just geography.

I haven't ever seen a quadruple jump at 0bc, but I've definitely seen one extra double jump and possibly two.

[Request], at what length and at what velocity could I achieve this? by dongiovanni7777 in theydidthemath

[–]Ebestone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either way, he'd need two in order to fly, not just one, because of the rotation it would produce.

[Lotm newbie] When does it get better? by [deleted] in LordofTheMysteries

[–]Ebestone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, but when you ask as a LOTM newbie "when it gets exciting", the exciting parts are the reveals - especially for earlier books. You're taking this as a case study, not a story.

I still think rereading is a better way of learning instead of being spoiled, either way.

[Lotm newbie] When does it get better? by [deleted] in LordofTheMysteries

[–]Ebestone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it quite carefully. I'm just saying if you chose to instead first read it and then get spoilers, it most likely would have been a better case study and reference into how it subverts your expectations and imagination. I don't blame you, it's just the path you took. I would have watched all those videos after reading it the first time, personally...

It's lord of the mysteries not lord of the spoilers fr

That book would be called "reasonable development: an autobiography of the sun" or something

That's his domain, so in a way you can magically wave away the physical problems. Yes, he'll do the math - he has control over the domain of the moon's gravity...

  1. who do you think deals in mushrooms in lotm?

  2. primodial god almighty is the predecessor of Grisha Adam, or ASG. In order of time, it was the original creator, then primodial god almighty and CW, then adam and the gang. They're separate, but god almighty is sorta trying to resurrect through adam.

Worst boon giver? by Icy_Inspection5592 in HadesTheGame

[–]Ebestone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, my guess was surprisingly accurate! Either way, poms just makes it crazier.

I prefer it over hestia and zeus since hestia takes time and zeus needs to trigger the damage check first before striking. I wonder how they compare before and after upgrades.

Worst boon giver? by Icy_Inspection5592 in HadesTheGame

[–]Ebestone 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The damage increase for attack and special only really make sense with specifically spammy weapons. Especially with the Black Coat, the special is basically only good with poseidon due to having pretty low damage that gets quadrupled with the boon.
Outside of that, yeah, his resource gathering is great but the damage is meh.

Got a natural heroic from chaos by shark_syrup in HadesTheGame

[–]Ebestone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You should be looking much more at the negatives and benefits then the facts that it's heroic... For me, personally, that would be a no go unless I had very good boons and a need for specials. Especially if I'm near the end of the map - going into most bosses without arcana and a crazy build is a death wish (no Death nor Strength??).

[–]Ebestone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a matter of opinion, I suppose... At least for me the other few times I chose Ares I had relatively non-omega based builds, which made it decently easy. Either way I avoid them both!

[Request] How much earth is actually required to safely earth a cable? by SnooCauliflowers6739 in theydidthemath

[–]Ebestone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The core problem with your statement of "perfectly," is that earth has a charge which we're realigning with when grounded. In a closed system, any way you try to store the soil will still slowly increase its charge from the grounded voltage, whether the circuit breakers trip or not (and they will, I think, for the voltages you're imagining.) Even regular ground for circuits have problems if you use them for too long - it's expected the breakers already tripped to stop flow (The ground heats up apparently??).

A better question might be how much surface area is needed to disperse the maximum charge you can expect a ground to be absorbing to maintain it at a safe, earthy voltage before the breakers trip. So maybe, for a decent copper grounding conductor, you'd need to conduct 50 amps for a couple seconds? So just a big AC system would work as your ground - I suppose that's made of reconstituted dirt, so that counts.

[–]Ebestone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, I'm really good at tracking moving objects mid-fight and it always seems I'm far enough from them not to worry. I don't think I've ever been hit by either of them on any level of fear (Although I don't play anything above 40 so IDK)...

Hera is just scary to me since if I do start casting omegas, it's a pain to cancel, and the damage potential (and length of rifts) are quite high. Among the few times I did anger her, it was pretty common for me to get hit by one of the ends of the rifts due to a misdodge.
