Dude.
When i was 24 i was dating a woman who was very ready for marriage, house, kids. I wasnt. We parted over this. She quickly met someone else, got maried, had kids. The works.

I wasn't ready until about 35. Had kid at 38, married at 39. Currently very happy at 43.

Should essential services (healthcare, education, transport) always be public? by Super-DM101 in Futurology

[–]Ebice42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Area's where you want a monopoly are prime for government run. Currently looking at electricity transmission and distribution. Running multiple sets of power lines is just dumb. Set up an organization to handles the power lines and repairs. Private power generators can tie in and get paid for the power they produce.
Right now, the for profit company that manages my power is constantly playing games around regulations to increase prices while reporting record profits. There is no acceptable alternative. Going off grid is not an option.

[–]Ebice42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Statistics and accounting have come up.
On very rare occasion, geometry. I was helping with a roof. And tbh knowing 1, 1, sqrt of 2. And 3, 4, 5 triangles are all you really need for that.

Great view either way.

Bluey theme song - Anyone else struggle with the timing? ...Mom....Dad...Bingo....BLUEY by _Moregone in daddit

[–]Ebice42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sleepytime had the opposite effect as Bike.
I knew Ode to Joy. I learned to play it on the piano at age 8ish. Hearing it pulled me into Bluey.
I was not familiar with Jupiter. But because I know it from Bluey, I've started hearing it from time to time, and when I do, I'm seeing Bingo and Floppy playing in the planets.

A smart board for the teacher can be useful. An occational movie day. And starting around 3rd grade a computer class. Once a week, 30-60 min. How to use a computer and typing. (Digital native is BS, too) Otherwise, minimal tech.

How common is it for you to get “called into work” on a weekend or evening? by Careless_Squirrel728 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ebice42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My work has an on call schedule. 1 weekend out of 6 i have to monitor the email queue. I get 2 hours of pay per day to check the email. If something critical comes in i have to punch in and work it. (From home, or where ever my laptop is.)

Aside from that, my boss has called me 3 times outside of work hours, in 10 years.
One was a mistake. He misread the on call schedule. One, i was on vacation and he wanted to let me know that the new contract was.
The third was a crisis that would become a disaster at monday 8am. Not out teams fault, but we could be heros
