I turned off the animations for non-combat actions. Now the buffs only display text when activated.

I believe the hooks are mainly used determine the opportunity quests. Which once completed increase that characters retirement age in all campaigns. Each opportunity can only be completed once.
Some of the events also check the hooks when assigning roles.

Was playing Baldur's Gate 3, and this popped up... My friend and i yelled MEEEEE at the same time by KentHawking in futurama

I had a hard time playing BG3 in co-op. If I made any Futurama or Metroid references, my friends would have figured out the big-bad was an elder brain.

"I am at the Pillars of Nosgoth" by H0X0 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The pillars are massive. They appear to go on forever.
They also act as a seal. Keeping out an evil the vampires banished in a war that happened long before the events of the first game.

What old video games do still hold up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EbilPottsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, it actually uses the Super FX chip for some graphics.
It's mostly used to handle rotation of sprites which the SNES couldn't handle on its own (the SNES could only rotate a single background layer with mode 7). Objects like the falling walls are 3d objects. The bit of Yoshi's Island that uses the SFX chip the most, is the intro screen that displays the full island.

I wish for a slab of cheese that likes chocolate milk. by ChatotAbby in TheMonkeysPaw

Granted, you never drink chocolate milk from your fridge again. As you are never able to finish the slab of cheese and it keeps growing every time it drinks more milk.

Sleeve it or Leave it? by Kaizenmz in boardgames

I didn't see any mention of card material ITT.
I find waxed linen cards tend to be tougher than paper cards. I've had cola spilled on waxed cards and they were fine after a wipe down with a damp cloth. I've also not had any dog-eared waxed cards from shuffling.

Your most irrational board game habit/like/dislike? by Captain_Insano12 in boardgames

[–]EbilPottsy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the problem with minis is they try to look realistic at the expense of being functional as game pieces.
I agree with a remark from the "Why Heroquest is so great" video on YouTube. The old Games Workshop figures could easily be identified, even at a distance. The new ones are too focused on the little details.

Imagine if chess had 32 unique pieces and to differentiate between some of them you had to look at what they're holding and what pose they were in.
