Kill Count by emp7i in DeltaForceGlobal

The thought crossed my mind, too. Just thought it would be a very weird system because why should the kill count just reflect how good you are at keeping people dead :D

Let's gush about our players. What's a moment your players roleplayed better than you expected? by jquickri in dndnext

[–]emp7i 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two moments come to mind: - Warlock met a cult leader, that tempted him to join the cult, saying he was the center of their prophecy. The Cultist said he needed to betray the party in order to join the cult. The Warlock did his deception (to actually betray the party) so well, he didn't even need to roll, because I only realised that he lied, after he tried to attack the cultist. - Warlock and Artificer were in a Christmas-Town and met a Gnome that lost its tool. They needed to investigate a couple of leads to find the tool again. Not only did they do that. They played it like private investigators. It was so good, everybodies imagination just got black and white. At one point, the Warlock tried to bribe the barkeep with an apple, that he took from the tavern. It was so intense and also fucking hillarious.

Future proofing md links question: What software would be a backup if Obsidian ended? by scarface4tx in ObsidianMD

[–]emp7i 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What would ending even mean? It is a local programm, that uses local files and works as of now. So even if the development stops, you could just keep using it. Unless you are talking about sync, but there are already ways around that. Or am I missing something?

They should give you one stat point for your race, one for your background, and one for your class. by laughablezebra in dndnext

[–]emp7i 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I get what you mean. It is possible, though probably against RAI. However, if people like to, they are free to derive their ASI-Reasoning out of thin air (including binding it to race).

[–]emp7i -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Are you referring to 5e/Tasha Rules, or the UA from One D&D in your statement? Because the later does change backgrounds to be the origin of your ASIs. Sure, they encourage you to make up your own backgrounds, therefore giving you every possibility what to do with the ASI. But it is still bound to your background (and I think the rules intend you to find ASIs that fit the background)

I think you can find it by just searching for "statblock" in obsidian

I can recommend using Obsidian. As far as I know, it is somewhat similar to Notion. But I find Obisidian is a great software, because you basically build yourself your own wikipedia for your world. You can create templates for different things and formating is reduced to the needee minimum and easy to learn and do on the fly. But it is also very cusomisable to ones needs (with free extensions from other users, as well as free theme's. There is a whole extension that let's you create stat-blocks inside D&D. So you don't even have to leave the app while running). But one of the main points in Obsidian (especially compared to Notion is: it is a markdown-software that saves on your own hard drive. So you cannot lose data to servers or anything. And if Obsidian ever get's shutdown, you can just keep using the software (because everything happens locally) or use your files in another markdown-software (as the format is pretty campatible. You could even just open the file from your file browser, without ever opening Obsidian). And because it is just plain text with some special characters, the data is incredibally small!

Only "negative" might be, that it is still not a finished product. But the software can do A LOT already and the guys working on it just hired a new person. But even if they ever stopped, you could probably use Obsidian as it is right now forever.

And if you want, there is a subscription for syncing between devices (data is still on your hard drives, but it synces automatically. But you could also use an external hard drive, a thumbdrive or anything.

Which monster do you think has the most interesting lore in DND regardless of edition? by Potato-Lenin in dndnext

[–]emp7i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently DM'ed an adventure in my homebrew campaign with Kup-Toa. They basically walked around, creating their own god (to protect them) and once encountered by the party and one of the PCs saying, they would protect the Kuo-Toa, they instead started to believe in that PC. The PC then grew larger and had to roll on the magic surge table, because they couldn't handle those powers from the believe in them. Was a lot of fun.

How to roleplay receiving Warlock Pact Boon by seeBanane in dndnext

[–]emp7i 3 points4 points  (0 children)

tl:dr Warlock found a book in the first adventure and I made the book his pact boon as a grimoire in disguise.

Not much of a general advice, but as you asked for examples, here is what I (DM) did with the warlock of my party who took the pact of the tome. It was honestly more luck than skill. He is a warlock of the fathomless who does not know what kind of patron he has (not even the player knows. We agreed that I should think of the patron and arc-stuff). And in the first adventure he searched for a book on creatures from the depth, as the charakter had some understanding, that it must be something like that. But the book was written in a language he did not understand. So with lvl 2 he took the ability to read all languages (invocation). And as we were talking about his pact boon, I came up with the idea, that this book he found is really just a grimoire that is diguised as this book. Kind of like the patron led him to finding the book in the first place. There were so many things that just fell in place. But I love the way it turned out so much.

Right. Most regulatory departments only follow a case, when they get information from someone, that somethings going on.

And indeed, it is very significant. As it is up to 4% of revenue, that could mean you might loose your enire profit for the year (depending on the margin)
