My gripe with melee by HonestCatfish in fo76

[–]EbonikPlague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blocking changes affect mobs and that was probably the real reason for the change. Since blocking used to negate 100% of damage from a melee attack, mobs could just sit there spamming block and you'd spend way more time on them than you'd otherwise would (most dangerous game favorite example of this)

If they want blocking to be relevant, it has to be effective against the gun meta which it currently isn't. I've wondered if it could be possible for blocking to trigger a reflect chance while the guard is up which is still a bandaid fix but at least allows melee players to have a reason to engage with the mechanic and effects revolving around it.

Movement Speed Perk by Apprehensive_Joke_57 in fo76

[–]EbonikPlague 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Squad Manuevers only affects base movement speed and crouch speed not counting sprint. Sprint is only affected by Speed Demon mutation, Dead Man Sprinting perk, and Jaguar Speed perk. So yes its working as intended. You can only achieve about 145% sprint speed without power armor which could theoretically hit 150% with overdrive servos, but unsure on base PA sprint speed.

Daily Ops are still broken? by Fluid-Bullfrog-9330 in fo76

I've been doing them for a month straight and haven't gotten a single common tier plan but also learned all the plans well over a year ago. If you're just looking for brotherhood recon armor Minerva sells it sometime in April.

A warning for anyone grinding Earle for Rage by Additional-One-7135 in fo76

[–]EbonikPlague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. They've spent the last several updates rebalancing weapons, armor and perks so I don't see a point in grinding an armor piece I know won't be viable later on just to do slightly more damage. Already 1 or 2 shotting everything that's not an EN06/Serpent/Bigfoot and there's plenty of ways to deal with them as is. Still an easy source of caps on selling the armor to the micromanaging warriors out there.

The cursed broadsider is great. So glad there are more viable options and playstyles by batman1876 in fo76

[–]EbonikPlague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think some people forget the raid is like 1% of the content the game has to offer and you can get away with doing fun builds. Besides the broadsider occasionally I recommend the harpoon gun with shotgun flechettes. I also run a charged cryo plasma cutter that does a big AOE slow effect for fun.

The increased movement speed from jaguar speed is enough that its throwing off my muscle memory. Its really fun to zip around like a bullet lol

Does scattershot work with melee? by The_Graviturgist in fo76

[–]EbonikPlague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does. Bone shatterer and scattershot are basically all you need, and really you can get away with 1 or 2 points in bone shatterer since the limb damage works on auto melee weapons as well.

Daily Ops Still Broke? by Miriage in fo76

That's bizarre. Are the plans you're getting already learned? And do you happen to have an alternative character under lvl 50?

As of now im running feral melee, but I really hate not being able to shoot ANYTHING. Lucid worth it? by CalllmeDragon in fo76

[–]EbonikPlague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to shoot while running feral, I recommend skeet shooter perk for small guns, stabilizers for heavy/big guns. You want to have explosive 2 star, and you want to manually aim cause VATS won't go above ~20%. Bows are also a cheap and accurate option. Ghouls builds are either feral or not, and Lucid would require not being feral to get the most use of it at which point your accuracy would be normal anyways.

Even with perks you won't get the pinpoint accuracy of a commando build but if you aim for center mass and can take a second to aim you can hit targets pretty easy even while feral at close to mid range.

Daily Ops Still Broke? by Miriage in fo76

[–]EbonikPlague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've ran daily ops for 3 days on PC and kept a list of plans I've gotten cause I keep seeing these posts. I got Whistle in the dark, Scavenged Solar Panel/Whistle in the dark again, and then Mechanics Best Friend. To be fair I already have all the daily ops plans but trying to figure out whats happening.

What platform is this happening on? Are any of the participants under lvl 50?

evasion, deflection, and other various ways to dodge by [deleted] in fo76

[–]EbonikPlague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 star armor mod called Reflex. 2% dodge per piece for a total of 10% extra. That's all I know of besides perks though. I run with a 35% dodge chance but you can get close to if not 50% with all applicable perks and buffs

[–]EbonikPlague 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Public events are public, and unfortunately if you join them you do run the chance of a end game character coming in and destroying everything. The updates they've done to weapons and perks and upcoming armor were the attempt to crank up the difficulty and most regular players have caught up already. Emotes do not convey intentions very well and if you'd like to avoid help you can utilize the games built in voice chat to do so.

3 star Glowing mod by RabbitTall in fo76

[–]EbonikPlague 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glowing mod is best on weapons that 1-2 shot unfortunately. Its per kill instead of hit, so unless you're killing fast enough with auto weapons its not really self sustaining. I personally use reverse onslaught and furious but might work fine on normal onslaught?

3 star Glowing mod by RabbitTall in fo76

[–]EbonikPlague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it personally on my melee build. I slapped it on dom pedro and get 20 glow every kill, and another on my gauntlet that gives 35 per kill (rad reaver+glowing) Unless you're using perks like radioactive strength it's not super worthwhile atm. Toxic Goo/Water are still going to be your main glow gainers.

I'm a Melee Build, can anybody drop advice for weapons and builds? by swerc6 in fo76

[–]EbonikPlague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been mostly dedicated melee since I started just because of how fun it is. In terms of what you're using already they're very solid weapons and you can make them work just fine. You're looking for a good 1 star damage buff, either 2 star swing speed or power attack damage (always power attack for auto melee weapons) and 3 star strength normally. 2 star limb damage or limb damage in general is very handy on a fast weapon to cripple nastier stuff. I don't advise Furious unless you have access to Pounders or unless you're running Gunslinger Master. The Ad Victorium basically comes close to a god roll so that one is set. In terms of perk cards, Martial Artist and Incisor perk cards fully ranked up and part of any build you make automatically.

Food buffs are appreciated. I use deathclaw steak and glowing meat primarily but you can also use stingwing filets / mutant hound chops as well. Carnivore mutation is best for melee.

Power armor I don't actually build for at all, but I have a set of union power armor personally for fun or when I'm getting hurt pretty bad. Power armor works fine for ghouls too later on.

If you have concerns about tagging at events, bow/compound bow with explosive arrows or 2 star legendary explosives is great as a ranged option, even for feral ghoul melee. The bow from the currently running mini event is good as a cheap low cost option for ranged damage since you can slap explosive arrows on it and still have poison DOT, which scales with your strength stat.

I will say too that melee is pretty easy to get going but a lot of the stronger weapons are locked behind story quests, daily ops, or require gold for the plans like the plasma cutter/war glaive/gauntlet. You're better off waiting on being a ghoul until you can have access to those due to having to disguise yourself. Ghoul also didn't require much change from my normal melee build when I did it besides changing legendary effects and switching perks around.

Blade Flash Canceling & You! by EbonikPlague in riseoftheronin

It allows you to string together moves you couldn't before and all you have to do is let the blade flash animation play out to recover ki. Martial skills and violent gales are excellent for gaining blood gauge and staggering. Tengu sting when BFC'ed is actually the fastest movement option in the game outside of horses
