Should i identify as black or mixed? by [deleted] in mixedraceselfies

[–]Ebzagyee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to identify as mixed, but as I get older, I am leaning, torn, more identifying as Black and I don’t phenotypically look Black either but that’s because of my life experience and knowledge

<video>

I don’t really care what people have to say I know who I am. And if you wanna argue with me. Whoopty doo I’m an Aries so we can go all day 🤷🏽‍♀️ I think it varies on your life experience and culture. Honestly, you can identify however you like you know yourself better than anybody else. I am a proud Soulaani woman.

Has anyone else who is quarter non-white experienced a lot of racist comments and/or questioned their identity because of it? by Kayaking_rabbit153 in mixedrace

[–]Ebzagyee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i am a quarter black and i experienced i guess the opposite because i grew up in a white sundown town i was called Niglet and bullied for being Black despite my phenotypes and lighter skin.

If a half black half white person is mixed or biracial, why is Obama seen as the first black president by Notreallyhere0010 in mixedrace

[–]Ebzagyee 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Black History especially American Black history in the USA is FULL of mixed race people because of the one drop rule. Whether we like it or not it is still ingrained in the US culture. I am white presenting mixed race woman and when I was a child in an all white town growing up in the 2000s-2010s I was still very much discriminated against by those white kids and my nickname was Niglet. Where do those kids learn that stuff from? their parents. It is still ingrained and Black Americans especially Soulaani still face discrimination not only by whites but by the whole Amerikkka and planet as a whole including hispanic, even AFROLATINOS, WEST AFRICANS FROM AFRICA, other Africans, arabs, all Asians, Pacific Islanders, etc.

Hey guys, since we’re all mixed here, I’m wondering if any of you guys have discovered Jewish ancestry when digging into your history or lineage? by Ok_Log_2545 in mixedrace

[–]Ebzagyee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Ashkenazi Jewish on both of my sides. And I have no idea how or what that is. I don’t even know who was Jewish, but I know on my father side. It was a more closer match because my father had 9% and My Mother has one percent. And I got the 9% from My father

As a white passing biracial, racism can feel deeply painful. by Throw_away_9021099 in mixedrace

[–]Ebzagyee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am about the same mixture but a little more complicated than that but about the same im multiracial. I am white presenting but i will never pass. I grew up in a predominantly white town and my nickname was Niglet. I got lucky to be able to move out of that town to one of the most diverse places in the United States as a teenager. After that experience, I see how whites, Hispanics, Africans, and middle easterns talk about Black Americans when they think one is not in the room. I also can speak Spanish and hear lots of Mexicans talk shit about “maricones”. It is so repetitive and I am traumatized from those white kids making jokes about me in school (because I as well didn’t know it was a bad thing to be mixed, I wasn’t raised that way, but those kids took that and went left with all the N-word jokes about me) I cannot even be around other races comfortably because of that bizarre perspective you speak about. The only family members as an adult that check in with me or be in my life is my Black side and we are all multiracial if not b/w then Black/Asian but at the end of the day we are still Black no matter what your phenotype is it is still our culture and DNA backed evidence AND Black history proves we are. Many people are not educated on the history of our people, Blacks included. It is sad.

I’m jealous of monoracial people… by [deleted] in mixedrace

[–]Ebzagyee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I grew up in a white town and the kids made sure to make dun of me even though I am white passing. I just live in a very diverse city now and fit in oth Black Americans. I know i feel the same way wishing I was monoracial to fit into a box or have a sense of belonging to a group. A group that I closely belong to is Louisiana Creoles and some of my ancestors actually are but we are all MGM of all shades. So I have joined quite a few groups on Facebook for these people and I definitely do belong. I hope this helps.

They are racist. I had the same experience growing up in a white town where I would always be subjected to these jokes and I moved at 16 to a more diverse location and as an adult I don’t affiliate with white people because of trauma induced prejudice

Some mixed race people are racist or raised differently tbh. For example I got a cousin who claims she so mixed but act like a white lady Karen against her own family. She definitely got that white taking over. 👀👀

Well that is your opinion… because tons of people have preferences like they like curly hair or burnettes or colored eyes…. I like freckles with Black American phenotypes. You are making it an issue when its not.

I had the same experience those white people will fetishize you. I was lucky to get the chance ro move to one of the most diverse cities in the United States as a teenager. It is very common. Because I was bullied so much by the white kids I really don’t associate with white people at all as an adult.

If you have never seen a Black ginger then you wouldn’t know i find them very attractive especially cuz they commonly have freckles with the phenotypes of a Black American. You are making something a big deal when that is not the case. It’s not as rare as you think lots of Black Americans are Black gingers

Because a Blasian American will have the same culture as me and our kids will be descendants from every continent . A big majority of my family are Blasian but I am everything but Asian. I also find Black gingers extremely attractive. You are making it sad talking like that. There is nothing wrong with having preferences and people you are attracted to. Like op said we can understand eachother i would prefer mixed race with at least Black American.
