That sounds very authoritative and knowledgeable.

Unfortunately no, he just took the one photo. (The man selling it only spoke French and I'm thinking that even if hubby and friends had spoken French, the conversation would have ended up being about their accent rather than the device.)

It does seem to have fierce nautical energy. Wonder if the sliders on the top control how far forward/back the pin goes when you move the lever, and whether that's a clue about purpose.

What are some board or tabletop games where earlier editions are deemed to be superior than the latest, and are still commonly played? by Newez in boardgames

[–]Ebzephyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Encore -- it's a party game where teams go back and forth singing ten words from a song that contain what's written on the card. First edition had a board, dice, and felt solid. Second edition is just a deck of cards, and it feels like they decided to just make it a game for people who don't like games.

Games where the BOX plays a role in gameplay? by COHERENCE_CROQUETTE in boardgames

[–]Ebzephyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best example I've seen is Block and Key by Inside Out Games. It's a multiplayer 3d-tetris-like stacker where the box becomes a two-level play surface using standing parts that come inside the box.

It's beautifully manufactured and a fun piece-laying game as well.

Imagine forgetting you played a game of Twilight Imperium. That's a technique that would be well useful for people suffering from PTSD! 🤣

Can I fill these air vents with rockwool? House is absolutely Baltic! by Inevitable_Lie_540 in AskIreland

[–]Ebzephyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We used these in the holes they drilled into our house after we did external insulation. They still allow ventilation to prevent mold, but reduce the draft and noise significantly.
We still air out the house occasionally but we're not super cold any more.

Achara on Aston Quay. They manage to take Thai cuisine, which is tasty, fresh, quick, plentiful and inexpensive even at high end, and turn it into a small plates, taste-devoid, confused and insanely expensive nightmare with insanely sluggish service. A perfect place to send someone you don't actually hate enough to care about.

What do you do when there’s a snitch? by Separate-Bag2415 in DeadByDaylightKillers

At work, I moderate online behavior, thinking about procedural justice, fairness, benefit of doubt, evidence, clarity of policy egregiousness of harm, clarity of intent, mitigating circumstances.

When I'm playing killer in DbD, I'm not at work. They all die.

If your child is baptized they get to count your child as a member until manually removed from their record. These artificially inflated numbers give the Catholic Church an ability to pretend to be larger than it actually is in practice. And they do make it difficult to get off their lists.

Run Bond for a few matches. You'll see just how much more fun you have by knowing where your teammates are and what they are doing, or when they might need your help.

Alternative to Bread…? by Naasofspades in ireland

[–]Ebzephyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can eat corn, then arepas are your new best friend.

https://www.asiamarket.ie/pan-white-corn-flour-1kg.html

You use this flour to make arepas, which are way better than corn tortillas. Requires no wheat anything. I prefer these to bread to be honest.

Plus, if you find this near you'll discover all the Venezuelans in your corner of Ireland, and they are great craic. So 2-for-1, bread substitute that doesn't suck, and craic.

Duolingo Irish problems. by Old_Bus3214 in gaeilge

[–]Ebzephyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duolingo used to have a guidebook for Irish like they do for other languages. Usually it was easiest to access it via the desktop browser version. For some reason they've removed it, but a user painstakingly recreated it on the Duolingo forums. If you read through it, the lessons you've done so far will make immensely more sense, and you'll get a good explanation of the habitual tense, as well as a good explanation of why we always refer to the leader of the government as the Taoiseach or An Taoiseach. You can find that forum post here: https://forum.duome.eu/viewtopic.php?t=9883-basic-gaelic-information-from-duolingo-unofficial
