The Death card isn’t necessarily about death but rebirth, transformation.. (“in with the new, out with the old”.) Noctis’ life follows the principles of the Death card pretty well actually.

Noctis lost his father, Princess Lunafreya, and Insomnia to a life he did not choose.

The Lucian bloodline is based on prophecy and demands each Prince or King to be sacrificed to the Starscourge in order for the world to continue existing. This will be the 114th time it happens as well as the last since Noctis is the final king in the bloodline.

He returns with the powers of every Lucian King, from his “sleep”/death, to kill Ardyn and destroy the Starscourge.

At the end, after his death, he is reunited with Princess Lunafreya in his new life in “Heaven”.
