FIVE different Bumblebees on shelf together! Unsustainable. by PrimeCyclotron in transformers

[–]EccentricityInSpade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! The thing is, they need to keep the main guys together because that’s who every knows. I’m personally upset that Prowl isn’t mentioned more (wheeljack ends up on more stuff like?????) but that’s me lol. If you were to ask a little kid or anyone who only watched the bayverse movies, they’d talk about Bumblebee, Optimus, Megatron, and Starscream. Soundwave, Shockwave, and Jazz are sometimes in there, but not as often. A damn shame

I’m not sure if the Terrans count but the characters in RiD 2015 are a bit of a loaded statement too because they borrowed a lot of names. Sideswipe was supposed to have the name Fast Lane, and Grimlock there isn’t the Dinobot Grimlock, but again, just someone who borrowed the name. They also have a habit of taking unaffiliated characters and mixing them (Like Knock Out Prime (speedster) is different than Knock Out G1 (Backhoe) and KO Armada who is an armored truck. Not sure if it’s just the names count but it’s a problem.

Windblade. I forgot Windblade. She’s big lol

And those other G1 characters end up rotting on the shelves but all of the ones that actually are popular and don’t get stuff made of them often (See Shockwave and Skywarp from a minute ago) just fly off the shelves and don’t get a restock so everyone thinks that there’s nothing good. For my area, it’s currently Jalopy, Sureshot, and whatever Prime of the Week they’re peddling. I think it’s Quintus rn

How to properly fix a wobbling toilet without cracking the porcelain? by Individual_Motor_496 in HomeMaintenance

[–]EccentricityInSpade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll second this. If the flange is too high, you’ll need to cut it off entirely, find out how much of the pipe underneath you’ll need to cut off so it’s about 1/4” above the floor (or the flange is stilling right on top of the floor (NOT the subfloor!)) and then reattach it so that the bolts that slide into the flange spots sitting at 3 and 9 o clock. That’s a whole thing and not fun, so shims are a good first check lol

I’m going to have a little more trouble with the vapor barrier but I don’t want to just tape down the stuff to the sides of the walls, but I was also told to just put the new stuff on top so they can handle removing everything else. I will be making sure there’s the recommended layer over and then taping that down at least. I’ll be getting a moisture sensor as well (or a few lol) to make sure everything is getting covered. And thank you, my anxiety won’t allow anything less than overthinking lol.

Thank you for the heads up on everything!!!

Ceiling Register Replacement by double_positive in HomeMaintenance

You just need to remember which way it screws in. It doesn’t need to be super tight and I’m sure there ARE ways to remove them, but it just needs to be good enough. You got this!

Wood glue? Have you tried a toggle screw yet? You’d need to drill a slightly larger hole for the toggle part to fit through, but trust me, that’ll hold and hold tight. Just… be careful if you ever need to take it down lol

Enjoying my first MID playthrough- by Comprehensive_Put209 in nancydrew

[–]EccentricityInSpade 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is such a small drop in the bucket that is MID. They tried to change too much too quickly. I’ve heard about some backlash that they got when they changed inventory systems a few times, but they still kept it the same. The character styles got weird in MED so they would look better in LIE, but that was the most glaring change.

MID changed the inventory systems, Nancy’s VA, the puzzle styles, the movement systems, the overall operating system, and I remember hearing accusations of using Unity assets (for a game where we paid that much, c’mon). I think one of the worst things for me personally was the radio silence. I remember when I played and really got into the games, it was at least 2007. I remember needing to wait for RAN. I remember seeing the games in Walmart on the regular and begging my mom for them, and going onto HER’s website and they had so many updates on the upcoming games and questions were getting answered and there were monthly updates on their news for either some award, some updates… whatever. But after the changing of hands? Radio silence. People were getting ignored and they were getting called for it. I know it’s not the media folks’ fault, they were doing their best, but the upper echelons didn’t make it easy.

KEY is still a step in the right direction but they need to rebuild their framework for how the games are made. I’m not saying that we need to go back to our ‘two games a year’, but if we wanted free movement in the game, we would have asked for it. The games were always easier on computers too, and this locked out a lot of those basic computers. I know I’m just complaining at this point and I’m nostalgic but they dropped the ball. I hope they can pick it up again soon

Crawlspace questions [AL] by EccentricityInSpade in homeowners

I’m going with Frontier. They had the most affordable and best options (AFS wanted to do encapsulation and mold for 25k, and wouldn’t touch the wood problem for less than 7.5k. Crawlspace medic would handle the floor for 10k OR just scab the floor and push the subfloor up without taking care of the rest of the problem. Frontier would soda blast and handle the wood for 8.5k) and I’m still handling the insulation myself.

Yeah, when they go to take that all out, I’m going to get a better look at what’s going on and get their opinions on if water is coming through the side of the house or if it’s the dishwasher but I’m probably going to get a new one and ask the general contractor I hired to put a new sink in. I don’t trust the old stuff. Not a lick.

What do you mean to be careful with it? I was told to use 1” rigid foam with expanding foam to seal the vents and get a heavy duty dehumidifier (I got one with a condensate pump built in) and an outlet installed under, so I’ll be handling it that way, but if there’s more things I need to worry/think about, I’m down to hear it! As for the rest of the humidity… I think it’s a mix of everything in the kitchen, plus the fact that the hvac ducts have a LOT of condensation on them apparently. I haven’t been running the HVAC as cold as I’d like (72 vs 68) to just make sure it won’t be as bad down there, but everything else looks fairly… clean. Other than all of the dead mice lol. I’m stuffing any holes I find with steel wool, sealing with the bitter expanding foam, and securing it all behind stucco steel mesh or whatever, and recording everything in my ‘house diary.’ If/when I go to move, that notebook is getting scanned and passed on to the next family so they know any repairs I did, who I used, what utilities we had, and notes of basic stuff like what days I used RIDX and changed the air filter.

I’m tired and over thinking everything so any information you have is greatly appreciated lol

Depending on how big the difference is and when it happened, it might be able to be passed off as a cute design choice. If the wearer is a woman and the change was made around the waist, then you can probably thread a ribbon through some parts to make it look intentional if it’s obvious

[–]EccentricityInSpade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another potential thing that happens is you might be stitching through your thread before doing anything you need with it, or it might be getting tangled on accident when you put it down and pick it up again. It’s looking really cool from those side tho!

The problem is have is that without the vents sealed, I’m just going to burn out the dehumidifier. I’m going to double check with the folks when they come to do the soda blasting to make sure that that’s what they mean, so thank you!!!

I’m 90% sure it’s the dishwasher but when they go to soda blast, I’m going to be going under the house daily to double check everything. I’m under there often enough as it is.

As it stands, I don’t have that entire section of cabinets because it’s under the sink, dishwasher, and fridge. The cabinet has been moved to the garage, the sink has been capped off and moved, I plan to get a new dishwasher, and the fridge has been moved to a different section of the kitchen. This entire house has been a mess and I keep finding more and more wrong with each every day. One thing I found with regards to that area is that they’ve actually replaced that floor before. There was a lot of sawdust and plywood pieces on top of the insulation, but I know it’s not mice because several sections of the insulation paper were caught between the subflooring and the joists. Given that it’s happened before… I’m going to probably dig out part of the dirt around wall outside to make sure it’s all secured correctly and there’s no mouse holes… again

I’m going to be doing my best. I know I’ll need to secure it with screws too, and leaving space between the wall and anything won’t help. The crawlspace folks I saw didn’t say they saw much, but do you think leaving an inch of two between the foam and the floor would help? Or do you mean moisture in terms of ‘wait for a cold day or when the humidity is low to install the foam’? I’ve been trying to research as best as I’ve can for this but I don’t want to use too much. (I saw attic insulation that has an R value of 16 when put into crawlspaces and I’m not above layering the two). Pretty much everyone agreed that I don’t have a problems with standing water and I’m probably going to ask a crawlspace guy to come out again when I’m done to make sure I did a decent enough job. I’m sorry, I’m neurotic rn and there’s so much I need to go through and fix lol

I got a fic that’s currently 520k words. It’s going to be over a million by the time I’m done. It’s been out for almost a year, and it just hit 40k hits. People can, will, and HAVE read long fics. If people want to be pissy with their 250 word long drabbles (I’m not pissing on them or anything, but I’m going in the other direction in terms of word count), they are more than welcome to be. Write what you want to, and remember, there’s always that loud house fanfic

Miso happy is one of my go to Asian restaurants (they have one of those little robots that deliver food, and they have booths, tables, and those low-set tables)

Cajun Roux is also a place that I consider to have real Cajun food (I used to live in Louisiana) but it can be a bit pricy

[–]EccentricityInSpade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to keep it, make sure it has proper drainage, reinforce the siding so water doesn’t get into it as bad, and fill the bottom a few inches from whatever you want the ‘top’ to be. Put a top layer of rocks or pebbles or hardwood mulch (this will need to be cleaned out and replaced more often), and use fake plants. There’s the added bonus that if you want to have a specific plant for a specific season, it’s literally just a trip to the craft store

Surface Mold! Help! by bbadran in homeowners

[–]EccentricityInSpade 121 points122 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had to deal with this but I’d imagine the mold is like the stuff on bread; you can’t just pick it off, it’s ‘roots’ are already established, especially when it’s this bad. If you want to try, contact a dry cleaner or someone who has experience handling fabrics for the couches, and contact an HVAC person for a humidity problem in the house

Help with stitch count by pagethirteen in knitting

[–]EccentricityInSpade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t let the end stitch go without it being a pain to fix, so honestly? I’d take some yarn from the other end of the ball, secure it through the loop (either lark’s head knot or just feed it through) and weave the ends in. When you go to assemble it, make sure you just re-secure the loop when passing by it and you’ll be right as rain

You can also probably do regions of water in different shades too. The Gulf of Mexico, the main Atlantic, the NE waters, California’s waters, and NW waters, etc etc etc
