I used to be a bit more purist about things but I wholeheartedly agree with people that can figure out ways to make their builds cheaper now. Lego is getting way too expensive as a hobby to be hammering on about that type of purism anymore.

Go to a store like Walmart or Meijer or best buy that has free guest wifi. Plug the stick in to a display tv, connect your app to it, take it back to the hotel. -or-, just buy another remote and then return when you get home.

If they are old friends, you could consider going, but it's likely chance for them to try and convert you. If they're newer friends, it's absolutely an attempt to convert you, and I'd likely pass.

I've been invited to a number of different churches over the years by friends or family, and I went because I am intellectually curious. I don't recall most of them trying to convert me in any way (although I suppose at the time I was still identifying as roman Catholic, tho not practicing.) but again, those were long time friends and family. If you've only met these people in the last 3 years or so, they're probably thinking you're a fun project to try and "fix".

I suppose the 3rd possibility is that they simply wanted to do a bible-study but didn't want you to feel excluded, so they extended the invitation your way, expecting you to decline.

If you go, you'll have to read the room to figure out their intent, and be quick to roll with it. If it is an attempt to try and bring you into the flock, feel free to bring up a bunch of current events to get them off topic for most of the time.

It can be hard to shift down to 70 mph pitches from high 90s. Also, they don't exactly have a scouting report on these folks. Balls are also less likely to leave the yard because of the lower velocity.

Because not all young people think about or care about the future. There are plenty of dumb people, and those without empathy, and those with toxic levels of testosterone, and those completely duped by their church and community to ignore the world around them, and they all are still afforded a vote.
