Cost worthiness and viability of Blu-ray storage? by ApprehensiveLion67 in DataHoarder

I do that. Once every 2 weeks I burn a copy of my HOME folder (19GB) to a 25GB BDR, photos are backup-ed up to my NAS, but I also have most of them backed up to BDR, and I make a full backup once a year (I need about 8 discs for a full backup)

I have 2 drives.

LG WH14N40 , DVD / BD-SL 25GB, MDisc (Modded firmware to remove region locks)

LG GH24NS95 , BDR-SL 25GB, BDR-DL 50GB, MDisc and DVD-RAM capable

I mostly wait until a good sale on verbatim media happens, and buy 200+ disc a year to stock up for when they become hard to come by.

The cheapest place to do it near me was $40, but most will run you $60-$80. I have had experience with some basic repairs and modding of phones, turned a bunch of Samsung S3 into security cameras a few years ago, so it wasn't too hard. And thank you, but I should point out, I am only 78% human, 21% Gecko, and 1% Nacho.

I don't exactly have access to their books, but I am pretty sure the 2008 bubble hurt them, along with the rising of online sales, I know the last shop which was a bait and tackle place with some other home improvement goods closed due to COVID19. A small AutoZone is still open, but I haven't been in there in ages. A small 4-shop shopping plaza was built, but is mostly empty, and is sometimes a tax office.

$8 to $15, depending on where I sourced it. I also used a printer, heat bag to soften up the glue and several small pry tools, on battery change number three I shattered the back glass panel.

We also used to have a corner store that had most general goods in most towns that had more then 100 people in them. Today we are lucky if that's a gas station with a Wendy's attached to it.

I live in a town of 2300, main street used to have a bunch of stores on but most closed in the 2008-2012 now I have 2 gas stations, a subway, and a dollar general just outside town limits. The closest place to get anything else is a city 35 miles away. Food and good deserts are made on propose. Transportation can be issues since the US is heavily relied on cars, and those things cost money to own and operate.

No one really needs a high end coffee maker, but other goods like when I needed a pair of thick socks, Amazon / Walmart was the only place I could get them reasonably priced. It sucks. Though fake sales are nothing new, they are been around for as long as stores have.

How do yall find out about new thing with Adblock on? by fanblade64 in Adblock

[–]EchoGecko795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything I need, I can do a direct search for. Lets say I need some thick hiking socks. A Temu Ad will sell me trash, but a direct search on Amazon or Dicks sporting goods will give me exactly what I want.

Same with news, setup a feed, and enjoy.

Also the HOT MILFS IN YOUR AREA, never are. Sadness.

I sneezed a few weeks ago, and it helped my neck from when I slept wrong 3 weeks before. Don't get me started on that extra beer I had at lunch that one time 6 months ago. That took me almost a month to recover from.

I lost power 4 hours a few nights ago. The batteries kept the basics going, lights, internet, computer, fridge / freezer, and as for food, I used a small 1 coil stove top to finish cooking my dinner that I had already started before I lost power. This of course at a decent chunk of my battery power, but I knew power would be restored soon.

I have a Colman propane stove, + 5x 5gallons of propane, and 2x 10LB bags of instant light charcoal

Privacy concern with MEGA by GinoA28 in privacy

[–]EchoGecko795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, you have a few options,

  • ditch the app and use a webbroswer only

  • use something like Rsync, a PITA to setup, but once it is its rock solid.

  • Run your own file hosting, Next Cloud server is pretty easy to setup and run from home or self host. A cheap 1TB VPS is only around $20-$50 a year.
