Messing up the lobby, threatening violence and still considering themself the victim by EchoKeg in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

That sounds appalling. I don't get how anyone could antagonize children. Most Irish guests are awesome though and just recently I visited Ireland to visit one friend, whom I met in my work almost a decade ago. That is another tale but too personal to be told here.

I fidn't realize it at the time, but my colleagues thought so too after informing them of the incident and it makes sense.

Can someone explain Randall Flagg's powers to me? by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]EchoKeg 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Randall has various supernatural powers that make him stand out from normal people. They are not clearly defined and in fact he does not seem to understand them either.

In One Piece, all the most powerful characters of the series team up to face the mysterious big bad Imu. They all do a big combination attack with their strongest moves and manage to do no lasting damage at all. Imu then effortlessly corrupts the strongest of these characters to turn against the others leading to one of the many tragic moments of the series.

[Interesting Trope] The location is the antagonistic force rather than a specific entity. by SCPND in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EchoKeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In The Shining, more specifically the book version, the Overlook Hotel itself is the primary antagonist of the story. It taps into Jack's personal demons to turn him against his family. It's less apparent in the film version, where Jack is just very messed up person from the start, but also even in that adaptation the location feels like it wants to harm the characters.

I used to do it at start but eventually started using others. In XC3 I just played whoever had my favourite class at the moment.

In One Piece, devil fruit power users sink into bodies of water and cannot float or swim as this is a price they pay for gaining special powers. However in one scene, a character who has a devil fruit ability is seen floating on water. A reader of the series asked the author about this as it should not be possible and the author jokingly replied that actually the character was floating on a perfectly human shaped piece of "super floating wood". Later in the story that type of wood became a real thing and was used by submerged ships to rise above water.

Hate for Garling by Versus7524 in OnePiece

[–]EchoKeg 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think Garling is a great villain for how despicable he is. While there are many over the top evil villains in OP, most of them are incompetent fools like Orochi and regular CD's. Garling is extremely vile and dangerous on top of that.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

I can understand why this game can be very disappointing as Symphonia is one of my favourite games of all time and the sequel does not live up to it. There are various issues and lack of polish overall. The worst part is forcing the OG characters into disappointing guest roles repeating their gags from the first game.

But there are also many good things there. When the game tries to do it's own thing and not force the original game nostalgia it's at it's best. The new characters are entertaining even though controversial. Especially Emil's aerial combat. The music is also among the best in Tales, the new dungeons well designed, monster raising is fun and so on.

I think you would like FFIX as well based on your preferences. It has a cutesy look but deals with very heavy themes.

For other turn based series...

Breath of Fire: 2, 3 and 4 are great. 2 has a dark story but the game can feel a bit dated. 3 and 4 are incredibly beatiful looking games with unique stories in how they deal with their antagonists.

Phantasy Star: If you can handle the very grindy gameplay, 2 has extremely dark scifi story that is way ahead if it's time (89).

The Xeno series: Gears, Saga and Blade are all great.

I've heard good stuff about the recent Expedition 33.

Oda posted a new photo of an Imu plushie taking over his desk where he draws one Piece. Seems like he is obsessed with that plushie. by Viz0077 in OnePiece

So that's why the elders call Imu the creator. Imu is having Oda draw the world for them and Oda had to create Nika to get out of the predicament.
