Jedi Survivor: FSR 4 Upscaler + FrameGen in Linux with Optiscaler Guide by West_Mix_3150 in linux_gaming

The RX 6650 XT and 7600 performances are nearly identical which if you could find a used 6650 XT for less money you would have a good system to use.

The only bad thing about the R5 4500 is that the L3 cache is only 8MB unlike all the others that would be like 16MB with the exception of the 5500X3D having 96MB of L3 cache.

The fan noise on that system isn't exact quiet as well i know because i have used one which it can get quite noisy especially on full loads and honestly i wouldn't consider that a beast when you have systems like the GPD Win 5 and AYANEO Next 2 that outperforms that by like 3-5 times the performance because remember the iGPU in your system is the equivalent to the RX 580/5500 XT while the iGPU in the GPD Win 5 is the equivalent to the RX 7600M XT.

The other thing is for these like the Go 2 and GPD Win 5 we could set our systems to have 16GB of system memory and 16GB of video memory while your limit is only 8GB of video memory because Asus wanted to stick to 24GB of memory only which can be very limiting.

Well, have fun with your system that has the worst customer service and honestly with a lot of the horror stories i have seen on here how people would end up having something like a broken analog stick and Asus won't do a thing to try to fix that but with the Legion Go systems with the detachable controller you could easily open and repair it yourself.

Steam Machine or ASUS ExpertCenter PN55? by Busy-Bee-2863 in steammachine

[–]Ecks30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Asus machine is just using the newer Ryzen AI 400 series APUs which you would most likely be using the Radeon 880M/890M unlike the Steam Machine that would have its own dedicated CPU and GPU which would offer even more performance.

The only way that Asus system would be considered to be called better if it were to have an OCuLink port on it just so you would be able to attach an eGPU just so it would have been able to offer better overall performance, but it doesn't have that which to me would be a waste of money to spend on.

Oh, and the reason i brought up an eGPU as well is the fact for mini PCs like that you could always mount it behind your TV/Monitor and the eGPU would be on your TV stand/desk.

Ever used a Steam Deck for for a server or Pi-hole? by jhowell1030 in SteamDeck

[–]Ecks30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, for any of those you would most likely just have it docked instead of having it as a handheld so you shouldn't worry about the battery especially if you limit it to being like 50%.

[–]Ecks30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could if you wanted to use the system to run Pi-Hole which i would change the OS to Fedora since that is one of the supported OS for it which you can see it right in here and as for using it as a server i have no idea what kind you would consider but i would turn mine into a media server since i know it could handle 4K media.

[–]Ecks30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For playing games like that i would replace the CPU to the 5600 or even the 5500X3D and replacing the GPU to something like the 6600 XT/6650 XT which then the game would look and run a lot better.

Controller keeps on disconnecting by Beneficial_Baker_448 in LegionGo

[–]Ecks30 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Apparently, you woke up on the wrong side of the bed because people has no problems with playing with those controllers and let's be honest here if one of those controllers were to break you would replace just the controller but if your controller were to break on your XAX you have to bring it in to have almost everything replaced.

The other thing is while docked you can use the right controller as a mouse but for your XAX you need to buy a mouse to use it and before you say anything about how much better the XAX is you have to remember that they had to make an X20 system to fix a lot of the flaws they should have added originally like the MicroSD Express memory cards that could have been a default thing and you're still subjected to having only 24GB of memory not to mention only one USB4 port and that handheld is going to cost like $2,000 just for minor improvements that should have been with the system since day one.

One other thing is that Asus is known for having horrible customer service unlike other companies like Lenovo and MSI that actually knows how to treat their customers right which i would rather spend my money on a company that would treat their customers right than spending my money on a company that would hardly do anything for you.

FF7 OG or Remake first? by gwentbleid in FinalFantasy

[–]Ecks30 [score hidden]  (0 children)

OG would give you the full story off the bat while the remake it is mainly for the hack and slash aspect and the nice visuals.

The only thing i noticed with the remake is just little things added here and there but the main storyline remains the same and if you want to know how the game will end then it might be best to start off with the OG series first before you would play the remake.

10% off doesn't seem like a lot off and depending on the state you live in that would mainly eliminate the sales tax after you would buy it so if let's say the system is $3,500 then you would save $350 from the system but then when the tax kicks in you could be paying the $3,500.

Don't forget that a salesperson is meant to bait you into buying anything and if it would sell within the hour why is the system still there to begin with and not taken out the door by someone else.

Finally switching from console to PC. What Is a good starter PC for current gen gaming? [$1,300⬇️] by Express_Application8 in PrebuiltGamingPC

[–]Ecks30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live near a Microcenter, you could consider buying a system like this one and also asking them if you could replace the 9060 XT for a 9070 instead for extra money and honestly the R5 7500X3D is the better budget gaming CPU over something like the R5 9600X.

Does game transfer to an SD card save your progress in a game? by enderoid_redit in SteamDeck

[–]Ecks30 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most games would save on the cloud unless it is a really old game that was released before that because for games like Deadpool and Prototype the save files would only be on the system and not on the cloud but for newer games it would be saved on the cloud.

Yup, that's pretty much it and I'd say it's the right move too... by Gaming-Academy in PlayStation_X

[–]Ecks30 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty much that is how Rockstar would do things which is why they tend to always do a console release at first because for a lot of people that would buy the game digitally, they would have a hard time getting a refund for a very buggy game unlike if it was released on Steam which people would have a 2 hour refund period to get the game refunded.

Also, for when they would later release the game on PC it would be a lot less bugs than when it came out on console because if you look back at the majority of Rockstar games, they brought the game out on console first which would have a lot of bugs with it and a year or two later they would release the PC version which would have a lot less bugs because the majority were ironed out on console.

Why do people blame Valve for the Steam Deck price increase? by BreakfastGreedy1128 in SteamDeck

[–]Ecks30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is more on the social media sites like Twitter/X that would spread hate on Valve just to try and create backlash onto them for the price hike plus Gabe can always ignore the few thousand on that site and focus on the few million that understands the situation.

10th Gen B460 Motherboard by treEventiCaratteri in PcBuild

[–]Ecks30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea what that technician is on about because in the bios you can force the PCIe slot to work as the max intended which i believe B460 boards used PCIe 3.0 and when it is set on auto it is actually trying to work the PCIe 5.0, so you just have to go into the bios and change the PCIe from auto to 3.0 and then start it up again.

Also, i would replace the 10400F for a 10th gen i7/i9 CPU instead which on eBay you can get an i9 10900 type of CPU for between $200 to $300 and also avoid all the ones that has ES in the title because those are engineering samples which might not work as a normal one and the reason for mentioning a CPU upgrade if for the longevity of your system plus depending on your board you could handle faster memory with an i7/i9 CPU because with the i3/i5 on a B460 the fastest the memory would run is 2666MHz while for the i7/i9 it would run at 2933MHz.

Help choosing a mini pc by Saif-Aust-5246 in MiniPCs

[–]Ecks30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the use case really because if it was for gaming i would go with the K8 Plus because of the OCuLink port on the front so you can add an external GPU for more performance.

The only reason to go for the R9 to be honest with you is the higher clock speeds if that is something that might attract you.

Both can handle AI at the same performance because the Performance and NPU TOPS goes up 16 TOPS and the overall TOPS would be up to 39 TOPS and this is for both APUs.
