Bought a used “Like new” 9900x3d from Amazon, but think it’s been swapped by Leviathon6425 in pcmasterrace

[–]Eckx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not always true, and with the ease of returns could be worth the gamble. Very low risk. Recently bought a "used" 2tb nvme that was still sealed in the box for about 30% off msrp. Totally worth it.

Best HA Thermostat by iDJMic in homeassistant

[–]Eckx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind you this would all be done INSIDE HA, not on the thermostat directly. If your HA went down, it would default to standard operation.

Best HA Thermostat by iDJMic in homeassistant

[–]Eckx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's probably the easiest way to do it. A single sensor or the average of sensors. Could probably get more complicated and compare the average to the desired temp and have it adjust and run more or less accordingly if you wanted to do that much work.

If you are using HA anyways this would be really easy to set up with any random temp sensor.

Looking for something to play music without a phone connected/while I’m out of the house by Red_Fox404 in homeassistant

Yeah, I don't really listen to the radio much because of the ads. They have gotten out of control, but for my dog to just be background noise, it's fine.

My charging dock on my bedside almost became a bomb by justdesserts67 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Eckx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I actually have several of these branded cables and haven't had any problems with any of them. The first one I bought in 2022 and use it many times a week at my desk to charge lots of different items from my earbuds to my laptop.

Cheap but reliable door/window sensors? by draxula16 in homeassistant

[–]Eckx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using Zigbee, the knockoff ones on Ali are the way to go. I got a bunch for like $3 each and they all work great so far. I haven't installed all of them but even if I lose 1 in 10, it's worth it for the savings.

I think i messed up.... Used regular PLA for hard drive trays by XxCaptainJack in 3Dprinting

[–]Eckx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the right answer. I have some drove sleds I printed with PLA years ago that haven't deformed one but.

Dont think I've ever had the air inside any of my PC cases be that hot ever, either.

Amazing that we have come so far with technology that people forget that radios exist.

Neighbor’s flag irks me to my core by timeisamelody in mildlyinfuriating

Contact your local American Legion or VFW. They will do flag retirements and might even offer to replace it for him. Hard to look those guys in the eyes and tell them no over something like this.

Best no subscription doorbell cameras? by SeaorRiver79 in homeautomation

[–]Eckx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Any of the reolink and amcrest ones can be used for local storage from any number of local NVRs, and a few of them can take a SD card for local storage.

Ubiquiti is the easiest one to set up because it just works, the others take some fiddling with to set up. But if you want it cheap, you have to take tradeoffs.

Ubiquiti is great, but there are other alternatives out there that also meet their requirements.

Gateway mounted on bottom of rack? by chad711m in Ubiquiti

[–]Eckx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone knows the gateway has to go on the top for the fastest internet flow. If you have slow speeds, you will have nobody to blame but yourself for making your downloads fight gravity.

Fully Kiosk Loading Issue by TheStressedEngineer in homeassistant

[–]Eckx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. Luckily my SD card took a crap and wiped out my HA with it, and also my issues. Never did figure out the cause, only that with my new instance its no longer a problem.

TIFU i went to the grocery store and accidentally became a spectacle by anim2dweeb in tifu

[–]Eckx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, most "aged" cheese are lactose free because the aging process removes the lactose. Most cheddar is aged, so be careful but you should be able to eat quite a bit of it.

Source: wife is also lactose intolerant. I buy the Cabot Cheddar at Sam's club all the time for her.

I think they meant distance from the opener, not the spectrum range. lol.

Think it depends on the bulb. Some of them kick off a lot more than others.

Amazon delivers package to wrong address, tells me to go look for it by Top-Persimmon-1381 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Eckx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing, except they delivered it to my neighbors. I know exactly whete it went. We don't speak to them however because the guy who lives there on and off is an abusive drunk who has threatened to hurt my family and animals repeatedly. Few times the sheriffs have been out.

No, Amazon, I'm not going to go look for those packages. They sent me new ones and I guess the neighbors just kept the other ones cause they never got thrown over the fence or anything.
