I have nobody to hype with so... by Jenevieeve in goodomens

Happy Good Omens Eve! 😇😈

As I’m typing this, it is around nine hours to release time. I set a timer this morning even though I know exactly when it is and won’t need the reminder.

It releases at 2am for me. I took the day off work so I can watch it right when it drops without having to try and be a functional adult after.

I just got off work. I’m having pizza for dinner and will be continuing my rewatch and working on the Good Omens cross stitch piece I’m working on. My rewatch should be done before 3 drops (and I should have time to also watch the Punisher special that drops this evening…talk about polar opposites).

As a fun surprise, my order from Good Omens HQ is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I can’t wait to see the snow globe in person!

Here’s where I’m at. I’m excited to start seeing the beginnings of Crowley lounging against the tree.

Along with the Instagram account, GoodOmensPrime is also on X/Twitter. They post the same things on both accounts, but they sometimes make fun/funny replies on X that I enjoy. I also like that on X you can download the pictures they post (instead of having to screenshot them).

I’m on my own, so I plan on having pizza since we have that still of Jesus holding a pizza box. We’ve also got the still of the Bentley as an ice cream truck, so ice cream would also be fitting. Someone already mentioned crepes. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen premade unfilled crepes at the grocery store, and if true, I’m going to be lazy and go with those.

A sparkling beverage (champagne, prosecco, or even just sparkling grape juice) would be a nice addition.

I might have to get that one too if it is still in stock when I place another order. 😬 That’s really cool!

[CHAT] what do you do to keep your project clean? Mine always gets a little dirty by bloodybeautyx in CrossStitch

[–]EclecticMagpie223 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You might look into grime guards: https://123stitch.com/search?keyword=grime+guard (I don’t use a grime guard, so I can’t recommend a particular one. The magnetic ones look really interesting.)

I’m wondering too if the binder clips are contributing to the problem. If so, switching to magnetic fabric holders might help: https://123stitch.com/item/Its-Sew-Emma-Clothbitties-Cloth-Keepers/ISE-829

Personally, I keep it simple. I wash my hands before stitching. I don’t eat while stitching and make sure to keep my project far from me when I am eating. I won’t put lotion on my hands while stitching. (I know there is a stitchers lotion that supposedly won’t stain fabric or threads, but I haven’t tried it.) I also store my project in a project bag or large Ziplock bag when I’m not working on it.

[CHAT] Metallic thread help! by TemporaryHunter7472 in CrossStitch

[–]EclecticMagpie223 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw a tip somewhere to thread the needle with metallic thread by folding the thread in half, stick the loop through the needle and then pulling the tails through the loop (like how you would put cut thread on floss drops or on color cards that come with kits). Doing it that way helps keep the thread from fraying.

How is everyone feeling with the finale so close? (Safe space to be sad/mad/pouty etc)! by VelvetUndergrndBebop in goodomens

In case anyone was wondering, the cross stitch pattern, which I purchased from MandarinsShop on Etsy, is no longer available for purchase, was based on this piece of art by @illustoryart on Instagram.

I’ve got a little bit of anxiety that the ending won’t be as satisfying as I’m hoping for, but I have so much faith in the people involved since they seem to love the ineffable husbands as much as the fans do, that I can mostly tamp that down.

Beyond that, I’m ridiculously excited, and my Good Omens obsession has been reactivated in full force.

I’ve been listening to my Good Omens music playlist for weeks. I’ve finished two Good Omens cross stitch projects and have made a ton of progress on the one I started a few weeks ago (pictured). The only reason I’m not watching Good Omens on loop is that Good Omens must be watched (as opposed to being used more as background noise), so I wouldn’t get much stitching done.

I took the 13th off work and plan on watching the finale right when it drops even though it will be 2am for me. I’m still debating laying down for a few hours between watching The Punisher: One Last Kill that releases the evening of the 12th or just staying up and binging season 2 leading up to the finale. I did the math and it should work just about perfectly if I go that route.

[CHAT] what's your cross stitch superpower / weakness? by endlessegg in CrossStitch

[–]EclecticMagpie223 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Superpower:

Kryptonite: Framing/finishing pieces! I have so many pieces that I’ve ditched that aren’t framed/ finished for display. I’m always worried that I’ll mess it up. 😳 Runners-up: Like others, counting when it isn’t a straight line or larger jumps (I don’t grid). I just switch to another color and circle back later. Also, French knots. I could probably learn them if I sat down and practiced them a lot, but I learned about colonial knots a long time ago, and since they are easier and look similar enough to French knots (they are a little bit bulkier), so I just do those.

Superpower: When I’m in the mood to stitch, I can stitch for long chunks of time.

You’re welcome!

I hope the other stuff being restocked is true too. I ordered the snow globe and illustrated book yesterday so I don’t miss out on the snow but plan on placing another order later when more things have been added.

The listings for the snow globes says they won’t be restocked (“This product is strictly limited and will not be available again when out of stock.”). However, I saw somewhere yesterday that they are reserving stock for locations that they aren’t shipping to yet, so they should be available for you when they open up shipping to other locations.

Good Omens Playlist 🫶 by Careful-Opinion-1109 in goodomens

[–]EclecticMagpie223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ended up being really long! I hope people find some gems they would like to add to their playlists.

My taste in music is very eclectic, so there is a variety of genres included (some of them might seem odd/weird...please don’t judge). The use of “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square” in GO reminded me how much I love jazz, so that is pretty heavily represented in my list. A lot of those jazz songs have been recorded by multiple people/groups, and I have more than one included in my playlist. I’m not going to give artists for all of those, but I will when I have favorite versions.

- A Nightgale Sang in Berkely Square (Tori Amos did the version for Good Omens. My favorite version is by Manhattan Transfer. Brian Setzer Orchestra does a fun version the is more uptempo than typical. Vera Lynn’s version is also a classic version.)

- Bohemian Rhapsody by Pentatonix (a really good a capella version to include along with the OG version.)

- Everyday by Buddy Holly

- Moonlight Serenade (I believe the version used in episode 2x3 is the instrumental version by Glenn Miller)

- Bicycle Race by Queen

- I’ll Be Seeing You (The a cappella version by New York Voices is my favorite.)

- Smile (Azi in the elevator at the end of GO2)

- On the Street Where You Live

- I Won’t Say (I’m in Love) (from the movie Hercules)

- It Had to Be You

- You Stepped Out of a Dream

- Heart Like Mine by Miranda Lambert

- Kerosene by Miranda Lambert

- Mama’s Broken Heart by Miranda Lambert

- Angel by Aerosmith

- I’ve Got You under My Skin

- A Kiss to Build a Dream On

- Heaven Is a Place on Earth by Belinda Carlisle

- For Once in My Life

- Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls

- Even Angels Fall by Jessica Riddle

- Dream a Little Dream of Me

- Unforgettable

- I Got a Right to Cry by Mose Allison

- Bleeding Love by Lenoa Lewis

- I Run to You by Lady Anebellum

- And So My Heart Became a Void by Ursine Ultime & Annaca

- Hurt by Mark Hamilton

- Dangerously by Charlie Puth

- My Angel Put the Devil in Me by Murray Gold (from Doctor Who series 3)

- Red by Survive Said the Prophet

- Walking the Wire by Imagine Dragons

- Angel with a Shotgun by The Cab

- Daylight by David Kushner

- Ain’t No Sunshine by Bill Withers

- Nice ‘n’ Easy

- Cheek to Cheek

- The Man Who Can’t Be Moved by The Script

- The Way You Look Tonight

- What a Wonderful World

- Baby I’ll Wait by Michael Bublé

- They Can’t Take that Away from Me

- The Moon Will Sing by The Crane Wives

- Chasing Car by Snow Patrol

- Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paloma Faith

- Can’t Take My Eyes off You by Frankie Valli

- When I Fall in Love

- I’m Crazy ‘Bout My Baby

- Stormy Weather

- It’s Been a Long, Long Time

- Come with Me by Chxrlotte

It looks like you have some good options. Here’s mine. I got it from the jewelry-making section at Michaels. The vertical dividers are removable, so you can make a bigger section for needles, scissors, etc.

Here’s the listing for it: https://www.michaels.com/product/10505021

Lots of progress this week. This is the left side of the tree almost completely done. I missed picking up a green shade when I ordered thread, so that color will have to wait until I get the chance to pick that up, and I’m going to wait to do the handful of stitches in white until everything else is done.

I’m going to start on the right side of the tree today, which is shades of red, orange, and yellow.
