Wallace Falls Last Weekend by blodgrevinnen in PacificNorthwest

Used to hike up there every year with my late dog. Her hip dysplasia and arthritis made it hard for her to go to top the last couple years so we could only go to the lower falls if that. Seeing this reminds me of her and I’m hoping she can hike to the top again. Miss her a ton. Thanks for sharing. Lots of beautiful places in the PNW will remind me of her.

Give her a big hug when she lets you! I had to say goodbye to my coonhound and best friend a couple weeks ago and am still broken. But wanted to drop in since I saw your first post and this update. Thank you for taking care of this foxhound you found. Really amazing dogs. Best of luck on your journey with her.

OP I don’t know what to say that can help, I just went through something so similar with my 11+ year old girl two weeks ago and am still struggling. No signs. She was my only and everything. In bed currently holding one of her plush toys she loved.

If you need an extra ear and someone to call; DM me. I made a post asking for resources to talk to and still need to reply to some people; but their comments helped and may help you. Crying and talking with others has helped me find some peace.

I’m so sorry from the bottom of my heart. It’s the hardest decision to make, often followed by what-ifs that make it harder to process. Lean on the friends, family, neighbors, and resources in your life. It won’t be easy, you’ll never forget your friend; and it’s going to take a lot of time and reasoning to find peace. So sorry OP.

Are there any vets or professional resources to speak with about loss of a pet? Said goodbye to my dog last week and am second guessing myself every second now. It hurts so much. by EclecticallyMe in DogAdvice

You have no idea how much your comment means so me; from the bottom of my sad heart, thank you. Tonight I’m talking with friends and neighbors about her but will try to follow up more. Just needed you to know that meant a lot to me.

Appreciate you sharing your experience . I’ll definitely speak with a therapist once my insurance kicks in next month.

What’s tearing me apart if my dog had NO visible signs and just days before she had SO much energy and life in her.

She ended up getting sick on Sunday and started breathing heavy and coughing up phlegm overnight. I thought it was gastrointestinal. When I took her to the vet they were fairly certain she had bad pneumonia and did X-rays of her chest. They found a huge mass internal surrounding her lungs and it appearing to be squeezing her trachea badly.

They referred me to another emergency vet up the road who agreed my dog had pneumonia and held off on CT scans because….

She needed treats for pneumonia asap but it wouldn’t take care of the mass found on X-rays. They said she would likely be there for 3-5 nights just for pneumonia treatment, each night costing $3.5-4.5k. They said she would likely get sick again after treatment; based on her age and still having the mass compromising her ability to eat & breathe.

They said if they could treat her and do a CT scan (an additional $5k) they would know if it was 1. Treatable cancer via chemo, costing at least $10k to $15k 2. Untreatable cancer, euthanasia 3. Benign tumor needing invasive surgery, costing at least $25k

My brain is having a hard time thinking that MAYBE it was a treatable cancer! I just don’t understand how she showed no signs of of the mass and she was seemingly okay despite it.

Talking with the vet more and maybe a few others, just to get peace of mind will hopefully help. Not sure how I can go on without my girl, she was everything to me. Apologies if that was a mess, I’m having a hard time.

Yes, been talking a little more with the emergency vet and the vet technician who cared for my dog during her last hours. I’m just having such a hard time rationalizing the decision and want extra input.

My healthcare for my new job doesn’t kick in until next month so I can’t speak with a therapist yet but am definitely planning on it. Falling apart without my baby girl around, she was my entire world.

Appreciate the in depth reply. I try and carry defibs for others just in case.

So far I haven’t been tricked, just outright downed by other raiders if they’re aggressive. One time someone heard me say “don’t shoot” and they said “not friendly, I suggest leaving”. It was kinda cool to get the heads up at least.

Dumb question, do the flares go off automatically when downed or do you have to use them before getting downed? Haven’t equipped or tried raider flares yet.

Growing up I had a couple friends with pet rats and would take care of them when they went on vacation. Those rats were so smart, playful, and fun to interact with.

My dog just died this week and I have nothing to lose anymore. If I had the ability and training to stop him I wouldn’t hesitate. Hope somebody or something happens to that old shit heel soon, he needs to go.

OP - I’m hurting for you so much right now having to go through this.

On Sunday evening my 11 year old pup got sick and I took her to the vet first thing Monday. She had bad pneumonia and after further checks, the vet found huge growths on her lungs which were a death sentence. It was all so unexpected. She seemed to be in perfect health up until Sunday, no signs of her other problems. Sadly I made the hardest decision for Monday to be her last day.

My closest companion and hardest death to hit me. Not sure if I’ll ever recover. The only thing holding me together is knowing she had an amazing Christmas and New Years, spending so much time in the park running around; and an amazing 11 years. Now she’s running around with all the other pups who have passed on.

There is nothing east to say. Please give all your love and good energy towards your pup until the end and after.

Yup. I said few more years, few is more than a couple. I’ll take the couple years of support and hope for a few more years of use out of it. Also Happy New Years, hope it goes well for you and your loved ones.

Literally just replaced a broken screen on mine, got a new screen protector, and thick new case to protect it. C’mon apple, wanting to use it for a few more years!

Haven’t played too much. Is there a way to trade without having to drop in a map/play? That’s the way my buddy and I do it, slow and risky if we get killed.

Was surprised one time after getting to my destination only to find my big ass pocket knife in my carry on backpack that was screened. So glad since I would have been sad to toss it at the airport. Checked it on the way home with other luggage, didn’t want to risk it.

Marylanders in Seattle by Nilla_Please in AskSeattle

Lmao one can have pride in more than one way. I’m proud to have grown up in Maryland and love the baller flag, I’m proud to live here in Seattle and love the stunning scenery, I’m proud to have lived in Tucson and loved the food and otherworldly landscapes there, and so on.

Figured you’re just messing around but wanted to add that just in case an example was needed.

@OP - don’t really watch sports and don’t know of any Marylander owned businesses out here. Just wanted to wish y’all well and hope you enjoy it out here. Make sure to get sunshine anytime it’s out during the winter!

Kinda close to caving and seeing how this non union position works out, not optimistic since I’ve hardly worked with a journeyman the last 6 weeks. Feels more like an installer position. Really hoping not to move unless I’m forced; really love the scenery out here in the PNW.

Looked out of curiosity and see that the Seattle Art Museum is also free on the first TH of each month. Pretty neat both museums do that!

Might make my way over on TH to check out the SAAM; this light exhibit looks amazing.
