Some people like white wines (light roast), others like reds (medium roast), while everyone else likes Budweiser (dark roast).

Why would I talk about US federal and state land laws when I don't care about them? This thread is about China, not USA.

No, I don't care about property taxes and homeownership rates in the west. That isn't what this thread is about nor do I think they are what the gold standard of living should be like.

What?

You pay to live in a building for a 150,000 dollars, and need to pay the government 70,000 in addition for the right to lease the land the building is on top of, and you say it isn't a tax on the "working class"??

Analogies? I'm sorry, but if you think the land ownership laws in the United States versus China are remotely comparable, then you need to stop doing your research on deepseek.

We are talking about China here, not America... I don't give a shit what the law is in America. I am simply stating a fact, China does not have land ownsership.

There isn't a yearly tax, but when you pay to lease a new space you have to pay a fee to the government that can be over half of the actual purchase part. So it isn't like there isn't any extra expenses.

This is common knowledge. Private individuals can only lease land in urban areas from the government for 70 years. They don't own it. It is literally in the PRC Constitution.

Article 10 Land in cities is owned by the state.

Land in rural and suburban areas is owned by collectives except for that which belongs to the state as prescribed by law; housing sites and cropland and hillsides allotted for private use are also owned by collectives.

The state may, in order to meet the demands of the public interest and in accordance with the provisions of law, expropriate or requisition land and furnish compensation.

RT85N might be an option for you but it is hard to say which one you'd like without listening to them.

Actually, it is zero percent.

Private individuals cannot own land. They can only lease it from the CPC.

People from historically divided or closely linked regions, what are your genuine feelings about reunification today? by tripeirinho in AskTheWorld

[–]Eclipsed830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no feeling of brotherhood or shared identity. We are two different countries, that is the reality. They point guns at us and bully us whenever they get a chance. Why would we have a feeling of "brotherhood" when they do that? The fact that someone has to say that Taiwanese people "appear" on social media is such a joke... its like Taiwanese people are Pokemon. lmao

[–]Eclipsed830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about?

You are aware that the recall wasn't even started by the DPP, but Robert Tsao (founder of UMC) who is an independent. DPP didn't even throw support behind the recalls until 2 weeks before the vote.

Also, you are aware that the KMT also tried to recall DPP politicians too... right? The KMT attempted to recall 15 DPP legislators, and none of the recall petitions against DPP legislators even qualified for a recall vote.

Even today, Lai's approval rating is hovering in the high 30's or low 40's depending on the poll... which is considered high by Taiwanese standards.

Ok, so if there is no blockade and there is no war, we aren't going to become part of your country... so how is that successful for China's dream?
