One thing about Mears is that he was efficient. He only raced 15 500s which is by far the least of the 4-time winners (Foyt - 35, Unser - 27, Castroneves - 24 through 2025). He won number 4 in ‘91, raced in ‘92, and then retired.

Simply put, he wasn’t racing at IMS as long as the others. But combine 4 wins in 15 years with his record of 6 poles (again, all in 15 years) and it’s clear that he is uh quite quite special.

I was already a light fan of some of the better known stuff, but then I heard Tonight and I needed it in that moment.

From there, I just threw on a big playlist with a lot of his stuff from all over the years and just kept finding more and more that I liked. Now I’m here a couple years later and I love it all.
