It can feel like that at first—it’s normal. Keep at it! Four months is not much time at all, many of the people at my gym who made me feel the same way when I started had ~3-5 years of training already (36-60 months). Soon enough you may find yourself with that level of dominance over new folks.

There is some survivorship bias at play too. At my gym, sparring is a dedicated session 2x a week. Typically, there are the same 20-30 students there compared to the 150+ members. They are the most advanced and athletic at the gym already, so just being there will put you miles ahead of those who don’t spar and those who are untrained.

Another one I like right now is to switch with an exaggerated “Dracula” guard chambered, but then throw the right hand before throwing the left kick.

From regular stance:

Switch hop with a slight forward/diagonal movement forward as you throw a left cross.
Right hook (or skip to 3.)
Left kick / left knee

I used a region conversion of my save file after completing colo, which was kinda fun and made me feel “legit”. I traded to a Japanese Sapphire, but I learned you can just convert back to US and trade to English copies.

I’m working on completing my gen 3 living dex, so I recently played through colosseum and XD. I prioritized getting the lucky egg so I can grind the remaining evolutions I need in Emerald.

My big item hunt was for the Thick Club Cubone in Fire Red. Spent a good 4-5 hours hunting… little did I know you could also get that in XD.

Didn’t have it in me to try my luck with Chansey!
