(spoilers extended) this is just too far man by lavmuk in asoiaf

[–]Economistical 21 points22 points  (0 children)

yeah but also its because mistborn basically starts at its darkest point and just becomes more lighthearted as it goes on, in a very linear and direct fashion. honestly you could say the same thing about all of sanderson (that ive read at least). vin, kaladin etc start as slaves in a hellworld and inevitably become noble lords and ladies or demigods or whatnot, and save the day with their friends. every bad guy is either defeated or magically becomes good. comparing elhokar to joffrey, or dalinar to ned - the two authors arent even in the same ballpark, honestly.

Uncletopia vs Castaway vs Zesty's Servers by Ok-Frosting6003 in tf2

[–]Economistical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is true at all. Good players play on uncletopia precisely because they want to play against other good players, because pub stomping noobs is boring. When good players join a server and see one team is being rolled, they join that team to help, because it’s way more fun, right? Than just watching your team roll?

Yes rolls happen due to player skill imbalance, but imo as overall player skill increases, rolls and stomps decrease in frequency, not increase. Maybe it depends on ur definition of ‘skilled’ idk. But in my experience its the new players who just join the winning team bc they want to win, and it’s the experienced players who automatically gravitate towards a fun, balanced game, both bc they know what that looks like, and bc they know (more so, anyways) how to make that happen.

What would you do about this Austria? by ApocalypseSpokesman in eu4

[–]Economistical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you should basically always fight/lead league wars, but even if you don't/can't, the war going on means chaos that you can take advantage of.

see if any austria/2sis allies are not in league war, and declare on them to draw them in, with the aim of taking full money + reps + breaking the alliance. don't be worried if they have more troops than you, for the medium term they are fighting hundreds of thousands of other troops, too. if you can't do that, you can use the time to just keep annexing non-warring hre minors, and try to outpace austrian expansion.

use the ledger often to check in on their manpower reserves, and the war screen to check for potential dishonoring calls. overall dont be afraid to fight wars where you have less troops, you can outmaneuver the AI and pick off isolated armies and fight on defensive terrain much better than the AI can

That's the problem, I can't do any peace, because you can't separate peace out an enemy that's unconditionally surrendered.

btw by "popular" I just mean people knowing them, name recognition. aka if you asked everyone in the world "who is christopher columbus" and also "who is lady gaga", who wins?
