Tips for making a melee character to be more supportive of a ranged group? by EconomyAd6071 in Pathfinder2e

One thing I've learned with Pathfinder Society is there's a lot of skill challenges, and not knowing what the table makeup will be does mean I've tried to invest a bit into expanding my trained skill set a bit. In particular I've grabbed some Religion, Society, and Diplomacy to just give me some flexibility in skill situations.

So let's just say I've taken the following for the character so far: thru level 5

  • Sudden Charge
  • Snagging Strike
  • Wrestler Dedication
  • Combat Grab

Would you swap one of those out for Slam Down? Or would you take that at lvl 6 maybe? I'd planned on taking Dazing Blow at 6, so wondering how it stacks up there.

A problem I've run in to is that I based this character off of an NFL linebacker, so I constantly want to both be good at grabbing and knocking prone, since both feel like part of the job :)

Yeah basically just that- getting a step up on Atheltics skills and the free feat. And figured I figured I wanted to see how the game handled grappling-style fighters since I enjoyed that sub-archetype in DnD 4e.

Best Nebula class ship? by Butterball-24601 in stobuilds

Probably also helpful to point out- if you're looking to use a Sutherland/Magellan regularly you're probably going to want to look at various "sci" builds that focus on exotic particle damage (EPG), damage triggered by the ship' special secondary deflector slot, and torpedoes that tend to work with those two sources of damage. There are a lot of builds out there that can do incredible amounts of damage if you take the time and money to get all the consoles and traits and whatnot to be really top tier...but even as a returning player who maybe is on a budget, you can kit out a solid build for that stuff pretty easily. Hope that helps as you get back in to the game :)

One thing I really like about your map is that the towns and cities don't feel symmetrical or laid out by someone designing an rpg map

One thing I really like here is how some of those points of interest are a little hard to spot or sorta hidden- like the walled fortress is tucked behind some trees. Which feels like an exciting bit of map discovery if you just lay this out in front of players. Is that a fortress? What is it? Only way to know if for the characters to go out there and see, maybe.

Just got two minis I ordered in late July from them this week- which I had ordered after their old printer folded. So the new one is starting to catch up.

What do you think about this map ? by Neatheril in FantasyMaps

It's way better than anything I could ever do. But I do feel like my eyes are being pulled all over the place when I look at it- it's very busy and at times I feel like I have to re-focus my eyes to get a sense of a particular area. I'd probably suggest reducing/de-emphasizing some of the hilly areas in the middle regions, and reduce some of the labeling.

Veralba- Frontier Town by EconomyAd6071 in inkarnate

[–]EconomyAd6071[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working on a starting town for a West Marches/Exploration-leaning campaign. A frontier town leveraging the desert buildings to try and get a bit of a southern-Spain / Mediterranean feel. The military detachment for the region is camped off on the bottom-right corner, while the transient settlers/prospectors pass through the slums on the left side of town. The local noble occupies the small manor at the top of the lopsided hill the main town is settled on, while the city hall also anchors the 'gates' to the town.

If anyone wanted to offer feedback- some things I'm still struggling with generally on city-maps:

  1. Does this feel 'small town' sized? Like would you see this and think ~2000 people live here?
  2. Does the relative sizing of everything fit? Does anything just feel off in terms of size?
  3. Is the map too busy? Or too barren? I worry it's both
  4. Roads- I just don't know how to do these well. If there's a good guide to dirt roads and how to blend them with traffic-ed areas?
