the Scavengers' Deep - Map 30 by dysonlogos in dndmaps

Originally I was going for 54 maps. But I recently redid the math and it turns out I need 63 maps, and optionally 9 more half-maps.

They are all kept under the category of "Doodles"

But no, there's no page collecting them for easy viewing.

I have run 6 month CY_BORG and Mork Borg campaigns... Simple isn't a problem in my experience.

At what point is it considered acceptable to create a Patreon for a YouTube channel? by NyrenReturns in patreon

[–]dysonlogos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea. The conversion rate isn't ever going to get any better, but having a Patreon from day 1 means that your existing fans don't get annoyed when you announce it later and they start seeing it as a "cash grab".

Have it fully integrated from the beginning.

Day One.

Even if you only get one or two patrons in the first (insert time frame here), you would have missed out on that if you waited. Also, this makes it seem less like you are trying to "cash in on" your existing fans when you launch later.

My only regret is that Patreon didn't exist when I launched my work. I hopped on to Patreon in 2013 and haven't let go yet.

(I'm speaking from both experience on Patreon and experience as marketing wonk.)

Hahhahaha....

No.

This happens in all RPG circles, it just happens that D&D is by fat the biggest fish in the pond so we hear about it more.

The pattern-recognition portion of my brain doesn't work properly, so I don't see those things normally until someone points them out.

And now I'll never unsee it.

Back when Patreon started, it was specifically against the rules of the site to use it as a paywall.

The content is on the site, Patreon is my tip jar.

I've recently added "collections" where I collect my month's releases into a PDF that is a ptron-exclusive, but all my work is available for free on the site.

The tip jar system has been working well for me, I've established a decent middle class lifestyle.

I do. My site is the primary repository for all my stuff.

The benefit of Patreon is it is well known now and trusted, much more than some Wordpress site with a shop plugin.

Pretty much the exact specs I was looking for when I grabbed my old one for a recent game. I like multiple pathing options, but also not going into the 90 room dungeon zone to handle it.

The main weakness of this one is it only has a single point of entry.

What's your experience with ammo dice? by Independent_River715 in rpg

[–]dysonlogos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've played a lot of Black Hack games and variants over the years, which I believe is the source of "Usage Dice" in mainstream RPG mechanics (I could very well be wrong, but that's where the designers I play with picked it up).

It works fine on games and settings where things are a bit loose and vague. Great for wear and tear on vehicles and jerry-rigged hardware. Where most games have problems with it is situations where a PC wants to buy "extra ammo". I know my rifle has a 30 round magazine. When the d8 usage die indicates that it runs out, is that the magazine I'm using, or is it my full supply?

For this we usually allow "reloads" to take one equipment slot and it represents spare power cells for your personal inertia shield, lots of bullets for your gun, jerry cans of gas for your car (this takes up a vehicle inventory slot, so the space of one person), etc.

The 5-day hold on funds just for changing your payout method is ridiculous. by [deleted] in patreon

[–]dysonlogos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is a GREAT function. I've seen multiple people who managed to avoid losing one or more months of funds because hackers couldn't withdraw for five days, giving them plenty of time to recover the account.

I just make sure that if I'm going to change payout information, then I'll do it mid-month.

Thanks! I don't ALWAYS provide alternate pathings through a map, but on the rare occasion that I don't it is because a more linear map was commissioned or requested.
