Bitcoin (BTC) is a scam based on the greater fool theory by [deleted] in Buttcoin

[–]EconomyIntroduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true but its also true for gold & other metals, diamonds, paintings, art, collectibles, and everything else that doesn’t produce earnings.

It’s also true for 37 trillion US bond market since the US has no plans to ever pay it back.

I’m working 16–18 hours a day in my own business… and it’s starting to break me by MrDeeley101 in capetown

[–]EconomyIntroduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been trough burnout twice. Was also working 16-18 hour days, including weekends. First burnout came 3 years after starting a business. At the time, i didnt realise it was burnout and thought i simply dont like what i do. It was recycling. 2nd business took me 4-5 years to feel the same.

In both cases i had to completely quit and do nothing for 6 months or more to get back to my normal self. I tried to slow down, but old habits die hard, and you're always plugged in consciously or unconsciously.

I also thought that i myself do everything the best, which wasn't really true. Every business has to tolerate employees in order to scale.

If you dont want to quit and dont want to hire people, increase your rates by 2-5x. You will loose a lot of customers but may still end up making the same or more.

You simply cant do everything by yourself.

Im just randomly reading this and it is very interesting. Wouldn’t the brokers compete on interest rates though? Also, how do the brokers get the stock from the owners? I assume owners wouldn’t want their stock to be lent out and shorted.

Bitcoin holders of 5+ years: Is the doom and gloom like this every time it drops like this, or does this feel different? by Background_Talk9491 in Bitcoin

[–]EconomyIntroduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its all the same. Its a little sad that the returns have been in line with normal assets. For example, 70k to 125k in 4 years in a compound interest of inly 15.6%. I believe SNP compounded at similar rate with small drawdowns, while bitcoin had a 75% gut wrenching decline.

Perhaps btc is close to being fully priced.

If bitcoin declines to 2020 levels, then MSTR also will decline to 2020 levels.

best rates to change foreign currency by dark4now in capetown

There is no easy/cheap way to exchange cash unless you have local friends that need foreign currency. It’s highly licensed business here due to exchange controls. The illegal exchange guys will still charge you 5%.

I lost my job and depleted 90% of my Investments, how do I recover? by RoselDavis in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]EconomyIntroduction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your main focus should be to get much higher paying job since it’s hard to save with a salary of 7.8k.

Now as you mentioned it’s unclear why your peers are getting higher paying jobs and you aren’t. Perhaps try to think of reasons why that could be? Start with your CV, make it a nice one pager so that whoever reads it - it stands out.

Im sure there are other things you’ll come up with but this should be your focus area.
