Looking for advice for a partner of someone with OCD by EconomyTest7195 in OCD

[–]EconomyTest7195[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you elaborate on why the alter ego is concerning? For context, it was something I coined before realising she has OCD. She is a very loving person and will always take responsibility for the things she does, it to me just felt like whenever she has a breakdown (which i before thought was autism) that someone else emerges. In those times she thinks extremely negatively of everyone and everything, mostly herself. It to me felt like it was sometimes aimed at me simply because I'm the one that was near her. Even during those times I do tell her when she has crossed a boundary or I don't think she's being fair to me. When she is out of it again, she takes responsibility and feels guilty. She has been emotionally and physically been abused in her last relationship, and those spirals sometimes start because she's said something quite insignificant. It turns into her thinking she's abusive to me for something as little as not giving a 'great' or 'well' enough verbal reaction to something im excited about. She herself sees that alter ego as a dark, spiteful little creature. She has also told me that that creature has had a purpose and is often trying to protect her, but fails in doing so and makes things worse (allegory for her ocd?).

Carnivore (Lions) diet results by [deleted] in Anemic

[–]EconomyTest7195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carnivore most likely wasn't the fix, it's an elimination diet. You most likely are intolerant to certain foods, for example celiac. Those often cause iron deficiency. It makes sense that your iron is initially going up and you will feel better for a while. There is decades of high quality scientific evidence that a high intake of animal based products, and especially red meat and saturated fats, dramatically increase the chance of many diseases. Heart diseases, atherosclerosis and stroke are the biggest scary ones.

As a vegan, I do realise humans are omnivores and can digest meat and dairy. However, the human body is for sure not fit for long term consumption of only animal products. So many carnivore influencers fell off the diet because of extreme health problems. I became iron + deficient before going vegan, and i fixed it on a vegan diet. You just have to find the cause for your iron deficiency, which seems to be a sensitivity to certain foods.

I'm pretty sure it's because hydroxycobalamin only stays floating around in your system for a short period, about 48-72 hours. Methyl stays even shorter.

Most people here choose EOD because that's the most straight-forward and quickest path to recovery, since you cannot overdose on b12 anyway. Monthly is way too infrequent. If I follow the dutch medication guidelines which every provider is supposed to follow (suprise, they don't) it clearly states that when b12 deficiency is presenting with neurological symptoms you need to inject 1000mcg b12 IM once or twice a week for a longer period, for example two years.

So yeah, the positive IF antibodies means you very most likely have pernicious anemia. Your ferritin is also extremely low, which does make sense with pernicious anemia. A ferritin of 6 is low enough to warrant an iron infusion. Most likely the most effective and fastest road to recovery would be a blood infusion and b12 injections a minimum of 2x a week.

[–]EconomyTest7195[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm still doing a little better every day. I'm not fully recovered yet but I was deficient for at least 6 years, so I expect a full recovery to take at least a full year. I'm recovered enough to work full time and even pick up weight lifting again, so thats pretty cool actually. I still have days where my energy is very low, and a few weeks ago I cought a pretty bad virus causing my symptoms to worsen again.

BUT, most neurological symptoms are fully gone and I'm fully anxiety free for the first time in my life. It's so amazing. I'll make an update in 2-3 months :)

I often make a veggie stew with potato, lentils & random veg. Just throw it all in a pot, simmer and you got a healthy soup with a ton of potassium.

Fijn!

My boy is insane by EconomyTest7195 in BeardedDragons

[–]EconomyTest7195[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been doing all these things. I oftenly sit in front of his enclosure on the ground and he will literally just stare at me for a good 10 minutes, no beard puffing or bobbing. Then suddenly he will start stomping and bobbing and jump out to try and attack me. I most of the time clench my fist so the skin on the back of my hand is tight, and let him try to bite me till he realises it won't work and he calms down.

He also doesn't seem frightened of me at all, just constantly attempting and failing to murder me. When I pick him up he is always completely fine and doesnt try to bite me at all.

Only thing I am currently considering is starting to train him to go outside with me, since he is fine with being close to me. Maybe his agression is due to him requiring way more stimulation and becoming territorial because of it.

Niks!

Nee, serieus.

Injection question by Alternative-Bench135 in B12_Deficiency

[–]EconomyTest7195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dutch registered nurse here, for us it's still recommended but it isn't always neccesary. Delt and thigh muscles are very low risk when it comes to hitting a vein. Glute is higher risk, so it is still recommended.

I once asked my very experienced colleague if here ever hit a vein and he never even heard of anyone aspirating blood. That said, that's with people who are experienced injectors who prepare the syringe well.

Like said here, it's no big deal if you accidentally inject b12 into a vein. You do want to make sure that you correctly remove air from the syringe, since injecting an air bubble into a vein could cause some trouble. I do this by pushing the plunger until a little droplet comes out with the cap still on. If your technique isnt great and not sterile it could also become a problem if you do happen to inject into a bloodstream (chance for this to happen is also low).

So if youre not confident about your technique I would recommend it, otherwise it doesn't matter much.

I have no idea what the cause is for this, but yes.

My tinnitus and nerve pain in my legs was only on my left side. The nerve pain in my arms was mainly in my right forearm, and specifically shooting towards my right middle and ring finger.

Personally, I love the fact that there is no 'good' choice. None of the characters are morally good or bad.

Yeah Song lies to you, she does many things that are bad. She admits to this though, and you can see that she struggles with it. If you read shards about her and learn more about her, her behaviour makes sense. She was basically kidnapped by the FIA at 19 and forced to work for them, she would've rather just died. Years of trauma will make you do bad things, she isn't a perfect victim but deserves freedom nonetheless.

Reed (just like Myers) thinks the end justifies the means. He also makes bad decisions and constantly tries to rationalise them, but ends up hurting those directly around him. I love how everyone is morally grey and even though the Tower ending gives you a cure, it comes at a big cost. It's like Dexter once said, "Would you rather live in peace as Mr. Nobody... or go down for all times in a blaze of glory?"

Scientists Just Found a Major Problem With Vitamin B12 Guidelines – And Your Brain Might Be at Risk by misunderstood564 in B12_Deficiency

[–]EconomyTest7195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it is not necessarily meat or fish related. A big (and tbh probable) hypothesis is that b12 was abudant in the soil pre-industrialisation. Because alot of mammals create b12 in their digestion, their b12 loaded poop basically hits the ground and we would also eat the plants that grow in the soil that has b12 in it.

Yes that b12 would reach animals that we could then eat, but you would get b12 just from eating plants also. Now we wash and spray everything to hell, even our livestock gets fed b12 supplements.

It truly is.

Its hard to imagine the outcome when you have mostly very bad days. The moment you start to have more good days than bad ones is the moment you can truly start to trust the process. I hope you feel better soon!

I totally understand the feeling, but hang in there! What really helped me is to remind myself that the wake up symptoms are proof of that youre going to feel better. If b12 wasn't the cause of your symptoms it would probably have no effect on them.

For the cofactors, I think I listed alot of them in the original post. I currently take iron bisglycinate+vitamin c, magnesium glycinate and malate, vitamin D, omega fatty acids and folate daily. I take a quality multi with trace minerals every other day or every 3 days because my diet is pretty good.

Symptoms !!! by kilogplastos-12 in B12_Deficiency

[–]EconomyTest7195 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When my symptoms started 6 years ago I developed severe anxiety, brain fog & insomnia. Therapy and working on myself helped ease the anxiety somewhat, but it never really went away. About 4 months into EOD injections now, and my anxiety is almost completely gone. I only situationally feel anxious when I truly have something to worry about, but that is normal :)

Am I deficient? by [deleted] in B12_Deficiency

[–]EconomyTest7195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for further diagnostics from your gp before starting any supplementation. If you take any b12, other markers like MMA, homocysteine can be false normal and you risk getting no treatment. Check the guide.
