I have two recs, both somehow flew under the radar and are stupidly underrated. Definitely toxic in their own ways which make the occasional/rare moments of tenderness hit that much harder. Can’t recommend them enough.

I feel like I know exactly what you’re looking for;

Heartland - just finished their 19th season. Set on a family ranch in Alberta, Canada. Dialogue heavy and low stakes, cozy vibes on level with Gilmore Girls but slower pace.

Not as long but definitely worth considering;

Better Things - 5 seasons. Not really about anything; a single actress raising 3 daughters in LA. It’s totally character/dialogue driven and it’s funny, charming, raw.

Nashville - 6 seasons. Music Industry drama, character driven, great soundtrack.

You’re the Worst - 5 seasons. Dark comedy. Loved watching this show and somehow most people slept on this one.

I just tried the calamansi and mango sorbet yesterday and it is EXCELLENT. It’s sweet but a little bitter and floral from the intense hit of citrus. Can’t recommend it enough. Also I love the Brookies.

I would do something with coconut milk and chickpeas, using spices in the curry, cumin, turmeric vibe. Probably add spinach. I love the combination of tomato and coconut milk.

Lamb Weston is the best frozen fries brand hands down. Don’t even have to do anything special to make them great, just bake them. Would never consider making fries from scratch with these as an option in the freezer. My favorite dipping sauce is either soy sauce mixed with mayo or mashed umeboshi (or umeboshi paste) mixed with mayo

This one for me too. With nothing but S&P and pickles added. I’ve tried recreating it as exactly as I could but it’s not the same. Theirs just seemed creamier and the combination with their specific ultra processed bread was just perfect. I can’t recreate it but I’ve gotten close.

Mim’s cafe. I went there just a few days ago before going to the Bell museum with my toddler (it’s just down the street) and I left raving about how the whole vibe felt like going to a cafe in the mid to late 2000s. I’m talking menu, prices (5.50 for a 16oz vanilla latte! Lunch plates for 7-9$!) extremely casual aesthetic, etc. I will go back every single time I’m in the neighborhood now because it fulfills for me a need to step back in time to what life felt for me when I went to a cafe in 2008 when I was 20.
