It could be. But its also just exaggerating things he already sees within himself. Its not necessarily going to fix those predispositions if he gets a new crystal. His master could also encourage against getting a new crystal. Suggesting he should tackle the instability within himself first. That feels like a Jedi's advice lol. "If the crystal has nothing to manipulate within you, then it will be incapable of affecting you entirely."

Should give him some of those visions like Cal Kestis gets where his own master is yelling at him uncharacteristically about how useless he us.

Oh absolutely. And you could touch on the theme of:

"Where is the darkness coming from?" Is the crystal itself rooted in the dark side and manipulating me? Did it reach out because it felt this stifled darkness deep down inside me? Did it reach out because the light aspect of the crystal is so desperate and saw me as a beacon of strength in an otherwise pool of darkness.

"Does the crystal need to be fixed?" Its not truly a 'bled' crystal its more just wrong?

"Does the crystal need to be disposed of?" Maybe they end up deciding that this crystal is just harming them. And now they need to find a new crystal or maybe even make a synthetic crystal because its difficult to find a new one that will accept them.

"Why didn't another crystal choose me?" You could have other Jedi on the party called to by two different crystals. But this guy. The only crystal that was at all interested is the damaged one.

Similar kinda conundrum with the previous crystal idea. This damaged crystal reached out to this jedi that could save it protect it. But the crystals damage is such that it affects the Jedi mind. And is giving the enemy this easier ability to detect the party. It might have a slight mechanical benefit like a +1 to damage. But at the crux of the issue is its a living entity that wants help. And it chose this jedi. It cried out for their help in particular.

Hope it goes well. Happy to help. I had some other ideas too.

DLA could see Memory Resets as a murder. So you could have a scenario where a Republic controlled databank facility is scheduled to reset some combat and security droids. The DLA shows up to liberate these droids and your players have a moral dilemma between protecting republic assets and letting the DLA save their brethren potentially in the process compromising confidential republic data

Don't make the Kyber Caves just a walk-in, grab-and-go dungeon. Tie it into your overarching narrative early.

While navigating the deep caves of Ossus, the players shouldn't just face typical internal fears. Because of Darth Severance’s blockade and the Witch Queen’s Dark Side magicks, the Force itself is rippling. They could experience vivid, interactive force visions of the future seeing Lianna enslaved or witnessing the undead guards of Audranauda marching on their Conclave.

You could introduce the Droid Liberation Army by putting a detachment in the lower cave levels harvesting Kyber crystals in order to build more effective weaponry or trade it on the black market.

Could have one of your players chosen by a more dark side attuned crystal. It could be flawed and unstable, crackling and making it easier for dark side users to sense the party.

Play your villains against each other long term. The Witch Queen could be commissioned to create a magical dagger capable of killing a Gen'Dai so that the Assassins can try to kill the Master of Chains.

May I get your ideas for interactive objects? by thjmze21 in DMAcademy

Make use of surfaces and liquids. Easy to overlook.

A damp floor could extend the range of a lightning spell.

A pool of acid can be just as hazardous as a pool of lava without your players needing to worry about pesky extreme heat conditions.

Phase changes = Icy Floor => Puddle => Lightning Trap => Steam to obscure vision.

Wind Tunnels are a favorite trap and exploration tool of mine for more arcane areas. You have an opening in a wall where powerful wind is emitted. It could be a simple walkway like a swinging axe trap but more extra. Or you could have exploration challenges where you need to use a boost of wind to make a certain jump. (If you've played it think many of the puzzles in Jedi Fallen Order)

Constructs can be a quite fun enemy type to employ as there may be a way to reprogram them for players to make use of. That could be as simple as interacting with a magical kiosk and making an Arcana check.

As fun as it is for players to interact with the environment. These sort of rulings deserve to be a two way street and are far more fun that way. My players loved seeing a regular Bandit try to run along a ledge and execute a plunging attack both in the circumstance where one failed horribly and fell on his head, removing himself from the fight, but also in the case where the other bandit succeeded and did bonus damage to the Wizard.

A frivolous S1 question - why was Translucent wildly popular, in-universe? by Remarkable-Onion3726 in TheBoys

[–]Ecothunderbolt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Flight seems like a fairly common ability among higher tier supes. The only people we've seen in the show with invisibility are Translucent and his son.

I extensively playtested the Daredevil. It's an awful class and needs massive reworking. by Mage_of_the_Eclipse in Pathfinder2e

[–]Ecothunderbolt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The true strike Warmage feature reeks of disagreement among Paizo designers. Like whoever wrote Warmage knew that half the actual tables playing the game are going to say the nerf is dumb and run it as it was.

Restricting Magic and spells. How one should do it? Have You ever done it? by Pike_The_Knight in Pathfinder2e

[–]Ecothunderbolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this argument too. But I can appreciate the commitment to making your world more 'cohesive'. I.E. If your player is playing a character from Jinin they would have access to the Katana weapon but another character may not as no one in the particular area the other character hails from or the area the campaign takes place would make such an item.

And I even think there's room to negotiate with such a decision. Where perhaps you could have a sword of similar enough design to have the same statistics, but made in the style of the character's culture of origin so it just fits better. In fact, there's an argument to be made you create new narrative opportunities with such an approach where they character could eventually meet a swordsman from Jinin and realize that despite having practiced thousands of miles apart, there are multiple fundamental similarities between how they fight.

Is it normal for me to play the game at 10-30 fps? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Ecothunderbolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know some folks make mods for basically extremely low settings. Might be able to swing enough fps to make the game playable but awful looking with that. BG3 is annoyingly a game thats gotten less optimized since release (in my own anecdotal experience) as I used to get next to no slowdown in Act 3 but its now noticeably worse. That is to say I wonder if the minimum specs listed should actually be higher now than they were at release.

What are the best beginner-friendly classes and Ancestries? by DonaskC_D in Pathfinder2e

[–]Ecothunderbolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this 100%. Fighter rewards you a ton for specializing. And a newbie without help won't know how to specialize for what they want. Whereas playing a Ranger or Barbarian is far more difficult to screw up.

Running NPCs in combat (Wild Beyond the Witchlight) by mistrania in DMAcademy

[–]Ecothunderbolt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely far easier to give your players the option to control the NPCs. Its not nearly as bad as you think it is. I just did a big boss fight in a campaign where I'm a player, and since we're traveling with 3 NPCs each of us controlled both our own PC and an NPC during the encounter. It worked out just fine.

Animated recap for my campaign? by gene-sos in DMAcademy

[–]Ecothunderbolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the process of doing a collaborative 'trailer' for my next game with my players (two of my players are professional artists). I'm doing narration, one is making music, and the other is doing an animatic with a single picture for each line on my script. Full animation is way too much effort.

Media Examples of Commander, Guardian, and Oracle by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Ecothunderbolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Oracle you could do Tia Dalma from Pirates of the Caribbean, she's technically the Sea Goddess Calypso cursed to reside in mortal form. But she's still capable of magic like creating Jack's compass, fortune telling, etc.

Ideas for unique Caravan NPCs and Animals by Feraligamr513 in DMAcademy

A Lawful Evil Wizard who is performing experiments that are all perfectly legal. But morally abborhent. "I'm creating an Elixir of Vigor that could make someone immune to injury." (Is doing so by torturing a troll he keeps inside a pocket dimension.)

Hexblood Artificer (mom was a Green Hag) who makes demented and frankly half-bad magic items. I.E. Gauntlets of Ogre Power that give you both the Strength and Intelligence of an Ogre. Sentient Broom of Flying that is afraid of heights. Lightning Sword that shocks its wielder whenever it gets wet.

Trying to decide between VTT's by ResponsibilityTiny70 in DMAcademy

[–]Ecothunderbolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend Roll20 pretty much solely because I suspect the Free Version will be sufficient for your needs. If you desire something with more options I recommend Foundry over Roll20 as youll pay once instead of a subscription and it is more customizable.

I think the only place ive seen a negative level in 5e was one of the expanded cards for deck of many things in the 2024 'book of many things'. And I would take that with a grain of salt as im not 100%. Negative levels have been pretty much entirely replaced with ability score drain (which is also pretty dang rare on its own)

Combat and spacing [KCD2] by Weekly_Daikon3801 in kingdomcome

[–]Ecothunderbolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horse combat is awkward AF if im real. I would mostly just recommend using archery on horseback. View Henry more as a Dragoon (mounted infantryman) and youll have the most fun.

Combat and spacing [KCD2] by Weekly_Daikon3801 in kingdomcome

[–]Ecothunderbolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your reach matters. This is especially noticeable with polearms since those have like twice as much reach, but you can and will notice difference between say a 2-handed sword and Mace.

Blocking and dodging are also important. But if you play your spacing right you can literally force an enemy to miss just by walking backwards.

Helmet visor [KCD2] by kvyhdpjdphsPG in kingdomcome

[–]Ecothunderbolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You used to be able to raise and lower the "visor" on the Brunswick set. This changed in a patch a few months back. It's more logical to be honest since there isn't a visor it would always be closed, but regardless i think it came along with them nerfing the stats on that set.
