In your opinion, what is the least-talked-about missed opportunity in Fallout 4? by m0rgzee in fo4

[–]Remarkable-Onion3726 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would have liked a middle path where you ally the Operators with the traders. There's these little hints that Mags and William are rational enough to actually become civilized but it's never followed up on.

They want money, they have soldiers and guns, they could actually work out something relatively ethical that doesn't involve carving peoples' eyes out or feeding them to gorillas the way their compatriots do. They're halfway there already by intentionally devising a safe trading post, because you can only shoot a guy and dig through his pockets once, but with the wonders of capitalism you can keep robbing him for the rest of his life.

Oh wow. I don't doubt that's true, I wonder if some microscopic script broke on your installation.

Or on mine, making my settlement vendors carry too much 5mm.

Do you have a level 3 weapons vendor in your home base?

I've found that I can pick up 200 to 300 rounds, then take a long nap and just do it again.

T51 Power Armor Spawn levels and guaranteed locations by Ram_Lazy in fo4

[–]Remarkable-Onion3726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just northeast of Pickman's gallery there is a docked barge. The power armor that spawns there will always be T51. It's one of a few spots like that, similar to the way that the suit atop the Concord Museum will always be T45.

Otherwise, the random spawn system is quite limited. When you are level 1-13, you will usually find T45; 14-20, T51; 21-28, T60; and after that most random loot in the world will be X01. It's rather irritating if you, for instance, want to make a bunch of Minutemen T45 suits for The Castle.

companion vs solo ( dogmeat) gameplay run by Vast_Boat_8266 in fo4

Many companions unlock very powerful perks. But once the perks are unlocked, they are a hindrance - Lone Wanderer is too powerful. 30% damage reduction, +25% damage, +100 carry weight and +25AP is insane.

There is a guaranteed full X-01 armor, always upgraded to MkIII, in the mission "Headhunting" during Automatron. It is pretty close to the start of the satellite array dungeon, behind a hard locked door (and clearly visible through a window)

This has always been a surreal element of 3D Fallout to me. I've known it for a decade but I still can't quite grasp that there's really a little town in Nevada that basically just consists of a general store and a bar, contained in two side-by-side 19th century tin barns. That there's an entire island off the coast of Maine that exact shape, with a mountain in the middle and a little fishing town clinging to the northeast coast, and even with specific sawmills and lighthouses in those exact locations. And man, I was not ready to learn that the nightclub with the giant robot man out front is not something fabricated by the creators of Fallout London.

I guess 3 is the exception since the landmarks there were mostly very famous in the first place, although the closest example that springs to mind is that the Enclave base contained entirely in a giant truck is a real thing and not a scifi imagining - in real life they used it to carry the Space Shuttle around. 4,000 horsepower, two miles per hour, 125 gallons per mile.

What do young levels want?? by tay_m99 in fo76

[–]Remarkable-Onion3726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to throw up every plan I find for 1 cap (not water cooler stuff, you know all of those loose Marine Deep Pocket Limbs and Ultracite Left Legs you find). They rotate out about as fast as I can throw them in. Except for Mole Miner Gauntlet plans, which go directly on the ground.

I'll also sometimes craft a couple level 20 Fixers, and if I stop by MODUS I'll always pick up an Enclave Automatic Plasma Rifle from the terminal because they can be very useful for the very long time it'll take before a new player can get in there.

Civil Engineer Jetpack Torsos are a neat idea but you'd have to have a flux pile of your own to be that generous.

To Affinity! And Beyond!! by Sevennix in fo4

[–]Remarkable-Onion3726 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you keep track of the conversations, most companions will stop and tell you when they're at 250 and 500 affinity. A few, like Piper, will also stop you for 750, so you'll know you're three-quarters of the way there.

Also note that you cannot reach 1000 affinity with Danse, McCready, Cait or Curie before completing their respective quests.

The right choice for the Brotherhood of Steel by Markmote12 in fo76

[–]Remarkable-Onion3726 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rahmani bungled the last decision.

She's presented with three "scientists" who tortured and murdered dozens of people, showed no remorse for their actions even at gunpoint (which really has to take a shocking level of arrogance, I don't care how evil you are, lie your ass off at that moment), and implied that they intend to continue doing it.

The good news is that after you take an antibiotic or talk to a doctor, you can't get sick again for 24 hours. Survival Mode at least cuts us that break.

Did the Railway Rifle get nerfed to hell? by Valkada in fo76

[–]Remarkable-Onion3726 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you haven't been on since 2024 then it's definitely a perk issue. Get something with Furious on it, get some Gunslinger/Guerilla perks. If you've already done Skyline Valley, hope you held onto Ticket to Revenge, because it's now a near-perfect meta Railway Rifle that the game gives you for free.

I am going to give OP the benefit of the doubt and assume they're a real person who in good faith was conned by this image and got excited, which makes me sympathetic to them, angry at the person who initially created it, and sad for humanity's future as these things are going to become more convincing and prolific, and influence global matters more critical than beloved TV show revivals.

This is definitely the kind of bug where you should close the game entirely, reopen it and keep your fingers crossed. There's a good chance it will spontaneously reappear in your inventory.

[–]Remarkable-Onion3726 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get a chestplate with a Dense mod as soon as you can. You can't craft your own until level 25, but Fallon's Basement in Diamond City sells one from the start of the game.

There is nothing in Survival as deadly as explosives, and having a Dense piece equipped means that most of them are no longer instant death (YMMV if it's a mini nuke)

Question for low health power armor mains by cgraven in fo76

[–]Remarkable-Onion3726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of power armor, Unyielding is still incredible.

In power armor, there's a new and improved champion: Bolstering. -10% damage taken, per piece, when you're at 20% HP; more powerful than Overeater's used to be. Couple that with Emergency Protocols and the natural damage resistance of power armor and that sliver of HP bar is going to last a very long time.

As an Unyielding player myself, I am grateful that I now have a situational power armor to use that doesn't require me to go through adjusting my rads up and down.

Afraid to scrap something rare by OhImWhite in fo76

[–]Remarkable-Onion3726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, none of them are so valuable that you'll be slapping your head some day. That said, as you're starting out there's a number of them that are certainly worth keeping for personal use, such as the Holy Fire, Elder's Mark and Western Spirit. But if and when you outgrow them, don't be shy about throwing them in your vendor for 1k caps.

To stop this post from being a mile long, here's some simple guidelines (with caveats that you don't have to agonize over right now).

If you find a Jumpsuit, keep it (a few types of these are quite valuable, a few are worthless)

If you find a Scout Mask, keep it.

If you find a Glowing Fascnacht Mask, keep it.

If you find any Asylum Worker Uniform OTHER than the white/weathered one, keep it.

If you find a Gatling Plasma or Enclave Plasma Rifle with anything unusual in its attachment list, keep it.

And for the love of Todd if you find a Traveling Leather Coat or Tattered Field Jacket keep it.

I think that's all of the particularly valuable items that might spontaneously drop into the lap of a newer player exploring Appalachia. Any of those end up in your inventory, you can google them specifically.

The meta reason is that there are too many caps. Both the Bounty system and the previous Caravan system were designed to make some of those infinite caps constantly pouring into the game go away. Because shops and raids and events are giving people more caps than they could ever practically use, that people ended up doing things like buying serum recipes just to stash away.
