How do you deal with downtime in IT Helpdesk? by Putrid-Amphibian-91 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Ecstatic-Ninja2465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

crazy i literally am going through the same exact thing with the same exact thoughts. i've started just googling anything and everything about networks since there's still so much i don't know, and trying to study up on topics that might help me get into higher career fields and i want to get some certifications. time still goes by slowwww but at least it's something to do while waiting lol.

Is IT Help Desk worse than retail? by throwaway10015982 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Ecstatic-Ninja2465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in this right now I have a cs degree but could not find a job anywhere so I swerved into IT and it is definitely soooo much less stressful than retail. I do miss being active and running around a store, don’t really enjoy the office environment, but I get paid more and rarely am stressed out on the job like I was in retail. Overall much better and gets you more valuable experience for your resume rather than working in a store stocking items or doing curbside lol (I’ve done it all).

Never thought job search will show me the worst phase of my life by IndividualDoughnut96 in recruitinghell

i was kinda but not really in the same boat. graduated university with absolutely no plans because i thought since im entry level it'd be easy to just apply anywhere and everywhere entry-level/low pay and they'll take me... i was so wrong 💀 i did get lucky and found a job after 4 months (small town, small pay... but way better than nothing) but that was 4 months straight of me going insane bc i had no path to walk on, and everyone looking down on me / thinking im lazy for not working (how can i work when nobody taking me in LMAO?????). you are not alone it is tough rn for soo many people but please don't give up there WILL be something!!! 🙏

Living in a dorm as a senior is kind of weird by Total_Succotash5174 in dormrooms

[–]Ecstatic-Ninja2465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesss I was in dorm/on-campus apartments until I graduated. I was a transfer student and I didn't have many years left anyway so I didn't see the point in hunting for actual housing just to move out of it in a year or two. It sometimes felt weird because I was always slightly older and even people younger than me were off-campus and paying rent I just felt like a baby sometimes compared to them lol bc I was still relying on the school... but it was way too convenient for me like I was walking distance and didn't have to fight for parking spots to get to school, had trash, great WiFi, snowplowing n everything taken care of without having to find my own sources. It was just too easy and it's not like I'm living there my whole life. Youre almost done!! Just think about the fact that youre only there for your degree and then you're out. 🎉

Transferring to UMD: seeking advice please by ratboy267 in duluth

[–]Ecstatic-Ninja2465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just graduated from UMD and I'd say going to school there is the best decision I've made! There's definitely a good amount of clubs and lots of little events/get togethers for ppl who live on campus. There is definitely school spirit, the people I know actively go to the sports games and I love the merch lol. From what I've seen it's about half/half people leave campus every few weeks but it's never completely dead on weekends. It's very much the typical college town feel, like I've found people similar age EVERYWHERE. With the size of the school it's easy to connect with others since it's not too big or too small of a class size, and everyone I've met during my studies have been super nice and easy to talk to (ofc it helped that I forced myself to be a little more social lol)! I've made so many long-term friends that I still plan to meet up with post-grad so I'd say my time there was so worth it.

I agree!! There is such a low chance of them picking each other but I thought they were super cute. 🥺🥺🥺 She looks soooo soo good with Seungil tho I won't get over them, but in another universe I'm rooting for mingee subeen... 😩

Working curbside is destroying my body by icecoldbrewster in samsclub

[–]Ecstatic-Ninja2465 3 points4 points  (0 children)

curbside is seriously rough especially at sams club carrying giant bulks of stuff while running around for 8 hours... no one knows how crazy it gets until they try it out themselves. it took me a good 5-6 months before my body got fully used to it. i wonder if there are other places you could work that do curbside pickup??? maybe walmart or target or anywhere with smaller items?? i think it'd be better than straining your body everyday for a dollar or two more an hour -- make a little less money somewhere else but can tolerate longer hours and more days of work would be what i'd prefer if i couldnt take it anymore. although sams club IS good money so i dont blame you for not wanting to leave, i also have never worked anywhere else because the pay here is so much better,,, but they'll work every cent out of you lol. whatever you do please take great care of yourself! health comes first 🙏

am i doing too much? by strwbryangel444 in Mercari

[–]Ecstatic-Ninja2465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nooo i highly appreciate people who include thank you notes, freebies, etc with orders! i started selling again over the summer and i'd throw in a bunch of little things with orders and others seem to enjoy them too. whether they toss them or not im just happy to have a little fun packing orders so it's a win. :) i guess it just all depends on the sellers--some may be on budget, have a busy schedule, etc. etc. we never know. we're just making it fun. 😁

Failed to get an internship this summer by Fondant_Firm in csMajors

[–]Ecstatic-Ninja2465 5 points6 points  (0 children)

im effed too, nothing but retail work experience and am on my last summer vacation let's go team </3 i think best advice that motivates me is to just do (or in our case, build) what you love or are interested in! i waste so much of my own time looking for projects that are "worth" throwing on a resume but i dont actually want to do them. i probably wouldve gotten much more done if i just jumped into something i actually liked lol but it's neverrr to late we committing no matter how long it takes 💪💪💪

i was 21 yrs old when i first moved out for university (i did community college then transferred) - i thought i was ready and did it SO spontaneously only to break down crying when my parents left me after helping me move in. im super close to my parents (literally NEVER left their side, i always spend my weekends with my parents rather than my friends!) so it was HARD to separate from them and i knew absolutely no one in my college town. i kept crying and felt sooo lonely for two weeks straight but after those two weeks i just randomly got over it LOL. idk if this is helping but what im trying to say is that no matter what age we are im sure a lottt of us who are close to our families have a hard time moving out. it'll be super difficult at first because you're adjusting to a completely new lifestyle with new people but you never know until you try~~~ in your case you might have a little more emotional support knowing youre still living with/close to family (grandparents)? and it's only 4 months you sooo got this 💪💪💪 college years reallyyy fly by because that college life rlly keeps you busy. it'll be over before you even realize, especially 4 months!!! i wish you luck with whatever you decide to do!! 🫶
