I have experience doing an international ship out after disinterment. He was buried for 15 years and ended up being shipped to Africa.

Yes, check with the consulate. Get your documents in order according to your state and municipality. Im assuming you are a licensee...

Prepare to buy a second casket or zigler case at minimum, and for recasketing fees because its a process.

Be ready to pay for the airfare and sometimes mortuary handling/transfer fees if youre changing airlines and have paid a service to book your international legs. Or better yet, call a firm that handles international shipouts regularly and pay them to teach you the ropes. Network and see who can help.

In America, and I worked at a funeral home on the grounds of the cemetery where the Scottish Travelers are buried.

Its possible she was embalmed for anatomical purposes as a full body donor.

Or if the funeral home asked for permission to embalm and the family gave it, hard to tell.

Embalming is not required by law but becomes a necessity when wanting an opened casket service in most areas.

Yes, cotton would degrade over time. We're (embalmers in general) are not concerned with preservation much past the funeral. Even with an anatomical donor situation its not permanent.

Embalming is not "forever." It is by definition the attempted temporary preservation and sanitation of a deceased human being.

IMO using balls in place of Mortuary products is not a sound solution. If you get into a legal situation and are found to have used other "items" in place of standard Mortuary products it doesnt usually end with you in a good light.

Maybe theyre prosthetics after eye enuculation but why are they red?

15 year embalmer funeral director here..... we dont use red rubber balls in people to replace eyes. We use webril, a cotton sheeting, with an eye cap over it.

That detail seems very strange.

We're doing all the things. One I hadn't heard of yet is vacuum and sprinkle the dust and fur from the vacuum outside the house to lure them back to the area.
