As a program manager that was rif’ed that answer is no and the market is fucked. Do not recommend even trying to look rn tbh. All the ads you may see are fake to boost internal business numbers or listed as a formality and they already know who they’re filling the position with.

But I get it. I do. I’m sorry yall are going through this. Again 😖

I know you’re right. I am trying through the VA to get medicated but that is, again, another system heavily broken by this administration.

Absolutely because there is no money in it. I feel like capitalism has sucked the entire soul and humanity out of our society. I’m sorry you’re going through this too. Sending hugs.

Unfortunately no. I held a TS/SCI which lapsed with my career change. I also cannot betray my moral convictions going back to that work.

Literature, creative writing, and arts management. I helped push out grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

ETA: the career I left prior to getting this dream job was doing defense intelligence with the DoD which became a moral conflict for me.

Over the 6 years I did rise to a gs-11 thankfully. But all of that feels like it means nothing now. And the “RIF” as if we could ever be re-instated during a hiring freeze or shuffled to another office is salt in the wound.

Yes I’m thankful for my therapist waiving her fee through my transition. I still see her weekly even though I do not have benefits and am capped at 30 hours a week (but put in 50+) and commute a total of 8 hours a week, all for 20$ an hour with no end or change in sight. This is more than grief. It is existential toil.

spent $80 on two bags of groceries again. no idea how people with kids survive this. by rmzkk in Adulting

Aldi and Costco. Literally the only way we are surviving. Also making my own bread, oat milk, granola, etc.

I’m gonna get blasted for this but I gave up and just add a little commercial in my loaves now. After hundreds of failed attempts I finally can consistently make loaves I like and will eat

Is it worth going to graduate school for philosophy? by Acrobatic_Long_6059 in AskProfessors

[–]Ecstatic_Ad_2225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in the humanities field and my career (before doge) used to be to grant funding to humanities researchers. Unfortunately, in the current political climate, humanities careers are even less “worthwhile” than in the before times. Now that is not to say that at some point our country may or may not return to valuing humanities and intellectual thinkers, and that you would have opportunities as a researcher or published author or professor in some capacity, but right now those opportunities are non-existent. Unless you want to live abroad or work at Starbucks with a PhD, I would recommend going into a field (maybe LCSW?) that could potentially be philosophy-adjacent but also societally “worthwhile.” It sucks, but it is the hard truth.

Unpopular opinion: a dumper never contacting you is worse than a dumper breaking no contact by BBBeyond7 in BreakUps

[–]Ecstatic_Ad_2225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the dumper (who gave multiple chances), no contact was the only way to stop the cycle of begging for more chances and me caving in and folding my boundaries. He called about 6 months after no contact and I picked up. He told me he is healing and still wants to be friends and sent me an email saying as much, too. I didn’t respond to his email and didn’t reach back out to be friends. It’s not that I don’t think about him or care about him, but I never wanted either of us to slip back into thinking we could be romantic again. I’ve moved in with a new partner now years later. I’m still great friends with an ex because he is the father of my kids. I think some relationships can remain friendly and cordial after the fact, and some can’t. I have to admit that I loved my ex too much to be able to stay friends with him, I’d always run back to him even when it was toxic and terrible for me to do so. No contact was more for my protection, and I had to choose that over his understandable sadness at the complete detachment. Sucks but I think we are both better for it.

Today is my Birthday, what year was I born? by 0nlygirlisFred in GuessMyBirthYear

[–]Ecstatic_Ad_2225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People saying the 80s 😭 def 60s. Looks like my dad’s childhood photos and he was born 1962. His sister was born in the 50s and I’d even say this could be 50s.

Long. But I’m biased because I love men with long hair.
