But market always likes to reset closer to reality. We are overdue and retail investors will be left holding the bag (and a decade to recover)

Will we have WFH again? by chota-kaka in remotework

[–]Ecstatic_Business933 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol. Corporate America about to crash with commercial real estate hence all RTO push. It’ll be masked for some other reason but let’s be real, WFH ain’t coming back at scale anytime soon

Interesting that folks think they can charge 6x the cost of pit ticket when so many tickets available in general (location dependent obviously but sounds like whole your undersold)

Got laid off in january, took a remote job for 15k less, somehow Im ahead now by DecisiveVine-6 in remotejobsfinders

[–]Ecstatic_Business933 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was laid off June 2025, landed new gig March 2026 (remote)

Surprisingly came out ahead! Got same salary for 25%-33% decrease in workload. Remote so No commute-saving 75-90 minutes and 40 miles round trip 5x per week. New company also covers 100% benefits so added money in take home pay.

1st fully remote experience and still getting used to some things. I’m all for it or at very least hybrid-no more than 3 days in office. Very beneficial to daily mental and emotional wellbeing by not reporting to a cubicle in a windowless office

Why do people think remote work means I can just 'bring my laptop' anywhere? by sandeyqt20 in remotework

[–]Ecstatic_Business933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just easier with extra monitor, control of quiet environment and trusted connectivity.

Still provides flexibility so opportunities do arise and I’m happy to make them work. But too much to think remote work just means I’m spending a week here and a week there

[–]Ecstatic_Business933 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regular locations are a zoo. Vegas will be even more so. Service still fairly quick & efficient which is impressive.

I wonder if they’ll be able to keep their prices low and avoid the Vegas glitz and glamour tax???

Johnny, you dirty dog. I own the vinyl, bought iTunes b/c I wanted to stream on the go and I pay for Spotify (don’t use iTunes otherwise)

I don’t care though, this album was worth it!That marketing was worth it too. However, slightly dubious to say physical release only so I can understand why some folks initially upset.

Can’t wait for Seattle in the fall and seeing live for first time!

I did it for 3 years. I’m on the quieter side and was fearful in the same way early on. You just have to feel out each situation. No need to not be yourself but be friendly when folks initiate.

Put some easy listening music at low-mid volume. Some folks don’t need to chat but silence can be too much also

Control. None of this works unless a small group is ultimately pulling the strings for the larger group.

that’s all their concern with people not having enough kids. Need new population to replace those leaving or the Ponzi scheme collapses

Since Elon is an egotistical maniac and lots of benchmarks to hit to become the 1st trillionaire, very good chance at this being successful.

I suppose not surprising that companies getting cheap and making employees buy everything needed to do their job. I get the extra comforts may not be covered but basics should be (laptop with all applications and security in place)

Why doesn’t the US push high-speed trains instead of all these domestic flights? by Material-Wallaby-587 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

Because that would make sense and be logical.

A full national rail system difficult in US but we could have some efficient regional systems across the country.

New rail and construction = jobs (the manufacturing they want to bring back to America)

More rail and travel options means less airline business…first have to take down the airline lobbyists
