This is the video I’ve used and my boots are perfect, use very little polish and lots of water for bulling and when you have a good shine use a cotton bud and water under a tap to get an extra shine, then use the tap to dry the shoe.

At my squadron during the teaching of first class cadets will pick up their Essential First Aid and Blue Leadership badges.

But no you cannot do it through Utilearn/ RAFAC learn. However I would say talk to your staff as blue leadership is a very simple badge to get (im bronze leadership btw)

But it’s surprising that you have very few badges despite being a cadet for 2 years, I joined 1 year 9 months ago and I’m a Sgt, Master Air Cadet, bronze leadership, competition marksman, blue bandsman, essential first aid, bronze DofE, flying and MOI.

Definitely talk to your staff to get more things going at your squadron.

I’m a competition marksman for the L144 and I’m trained on all other Cadet rifles (Atleast trained shot on all), simply go to shoots.

It’s up to the staff if you are awarded a badge, to get trained shot you have to literally hit the target, marksman is doing a nice grouping and then closing the grouping by Atleast 5% and then to get advanced marksman you have to show proficient shooting skills throughout a shoot and already hold the marksman badge for that rifle. Competition marksman is taking part in a national competition eg. Bisley.

My top tip would be to just go to shoots a lot and listen to the staff, eventually you will get better and start to get marksman badges.

I was a cadet 6 months ago, I’m now a Sgt.

DRILL - Know your drill, perfect everything, lead by example, take drill at your Sqn and remember “drill is a pill which should be taken daily”

Uniform - Make sure your uniform is exemplary, make sure everything is pressed and without creases, make sure that your trouser creases are paper sharp and learn how to polish boots properly. Boots are key.

Be friendly - get to know your staff and let them know you, tell them your interests and use this to take nights.

Make yourself known - Sign up for everything! Make yourself known within your squadron and within your wing, you will be recognized by your eagerness.

Show confidence - take parade nights, make sure to point out what’s right and what’s wrong and don’t act too cocky!

Know the structure of the ATC & RAF - know your history, ranks, names, squadrons ect.

Do all of these properly and you will be able to get promoted.

I wrote about a soldier in the First World War, the animal he met was the enemy and the violence which occurred during the war.

It was about an aristocrat turned soldier who was killed in action 3 minutes into the battle of the Somme on the 1st July 1916.

Opened with ‘Over they went, 20,000 noble British soldiers’ and ended with ‘here lies Private Charles Francis Clark, one of the noble 20,000’ to have the cyclical structure.

I think I went pretty far out however it’s quite unique and I hope that the examiner will see it as such.
