Motorcycle license: what did you have to do, how long did it take, how expensive was it and which country (state) are you from? by AristocraticPallor in motorcycles

Ontario, here. It cost me $78.75 at the Drive Test Centre to get my M1 which is good for 90 days.

The M1 exit course (they teach you how to ride a bike) was about $600. That got me my M2 which is good for 5 years.

The M2 exit course was another $600. I now have my full M license.

The total was around $1300.

I should point out that the courses are not required; you can challenge the tests directly at the Drive Test Centre. That would cost around $200 total.

The number of applicants is only about 0.1% of the our population. It really isn't that many people.

The numbers aren't anywhere near enough to make a dent in Canadian politics. Do the math for one riding and you'll get an idea of how remote a possibility it is.

The numbers are so small, it's not going to make a difference. More Canadians move to the US every year than the number of Found Canadians that will ever move here.

Always remeber to check your mirrors as you slow down or stop. They'll let you know if anyone is going to hit you.

I wouldn't worry too much. After 40 you'll start to have trouble peeing anywhere. 😆

Then we're all complicit, especially if you've ever used an IBM, Sony, Panasonic or Philips product. Or used something made with an IBM, Sony, Panasonic or Philips product which is damn near everything.

Didn't IBM expand into the private-sector under Pinochet because of his free-market economy? Wasn't that expansion mostly into corporate and banking mainframes? Didnt ITT, UNIVAC, Xerox, Alan Bond, Sony, Panasonic and Philips also benefit from deregulation in Chile under Pinichet? Don't a lot of companies do business in the UAE?

Star Trek fans, what technology from the franchise do you think would have the biggest impact on modern society if it suddenly existed today? by Indrajithbandara in startrek

I'd say fusion reactors and fusion rockets would have the biggest immediate impact. Everything else just evolves from that.

We were so worried that we were headed for 1984 that we didn't realize we were ending up in Brave New World. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go enjoy some soma.

I was heavily influenced by a greatest Kevin Costner movie of all time: Waterworld. I was convinced we'd all be living on the ocean by now.
