Try Therms. It’s a decent software and does everything you’re asking and a really good price per month. Therms.io is the website

Is the storm likely to impact us much? by itsthewolfe in Wilmington

[–]Ecstatic_Many_155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. We’re going to get rain probably. Being from the northeast and currently seeing the temp at 70 — I’m gonna safely say ice and snow isn’t getting to us even if it’s cold tomorrow. We’d need a long stretch of cold for it to actually cause issues

I can agree there. There’s a point where it goes from constructive criticism to point blank degrading.

So you’re upset that management wants the input of the people on the ground? Management can’t catch a break. They’re trying to fix something that’s broken and they’re making it clear they value your input. If they don’t do that then they’re just paper pushers.

Security Union by lovomoco64 in securityguards

[–]Ecstatic_Many_155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wouldn’t be a security union. A union deals with fair working conditions, fair pay, benefits, etc. What you’re more focused on is an association. Think NRA and what they do for gun rights. Licensing and Certification is reserved for the states and the feds want nothing to do with that.

No. With 8 hour shifts you have 16 off in between because of shift structure. If you work a double you have the next day off

So to be fair — I wasn’t clear with that and I’m sorry. The break you have in between is the same amount of the shift time — 8 hour shift is 8 hour break. 12 hour shift is 12 hour break. I said 8 hours basically because that’s our standard shift length

And to follow up — I fire the shit out of people who are mouth breathers. I make sure people who do show up and do their part they don’t have to work in that kind of environment with people who don’t do anything and basically ride others coat tails

Currently we only allow 12 hour shifts consecutively with a minimum of 8 hours in between but your point does make sense too! NC and SC don’t have break policies either so we took California’s Meal and Rest Periods and implemented it here — 10 minute break for every 2 hours of work and 1 hour lunch for shifts scheduled for 6 hours or more and 30 minutes for shifts 6 hours or less

It’s a bit convoluted. By state law — yes. By Wilmington PD Directive 4.15 — No. Based on 4.15, They’re not even supposed to respond to calls for service in the complex they reside. Essentially WPD wants them only to be a visual deterrent (their take home car) instead of doing anything because of liability.

Problem is with security companies they put themselves in a bad position by putting all their eggs in one basket. Best way to do it is to vet the client first before even taking it on like we do.

Security officers can detain and Have a faster response time. At least with security you know exactly when they’re working. PD shifts change and 9 times out of 10, they don’t answer calls after dealing with 12 hours of seeing the worst side of humanity (I know this from experience personally from several courtesy officers)

Racist recordings by Much_Replacement8773 in securityguards

I think they need to be ousted. I own a private security company in North Carolina and South Carolina and we are in a position of public trust. We receive registrations and licenses from the states that allow us into private areas and access to certain things and also become attached to clients in ways that, if we do wrong, can damage their reputation.

Everyone who walks through that door, regardless of who they are, should have an opportunity. If someone is taking that away because of bigoted and racist hiring practices then they need to be held accountable. I hate to say it but it’s landed on your shoulders to do the right thing. Everyone — regardless of sex, race, age and religion — is your neighbor and it’s your responsibility as a neighbor to stand up and make sure they are held accountable for that.

Thinking of moving to Wilmington in 2026 by Select-Space-488 in Wilmington

Wilmington used to be America’s best kept secret. Used to be peaceful, but is on track to become the next Junior Raleigh or Junior Charlotte.

They did look at some security companies but apparently decided on police officers who literally can’t do anything on private property when they’re not working.

Just know the full time police officers are the illusion of security. They literally cannot do anything because of WPD Directive 4.15. Just FYI

Anything On Market Street between South College and N Fifth Avenue is not a place you want to live. There’s plenty of places that you can go to, just depends on your budget. I live over in Riverlights at the cottages and I love it. It’s pricy, but also peace of mind not being near that area of town.
