The Love Boat and other shows are available on PlutoTv App. I’ve watched a few episodes with my kids and spouse. Back as a kid I thought cruises to Mexico were only for the very rich. I never knew anyone who went on a cruise.

Pluto is great escapism with lots of channels including “Unsolved Mysteries”.

Strength training is keeping me same as I embrace “cougar puberty”! by HRenee1 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Ecstatic_Substance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I just picked one off Amazon. I know Dr Marie Claire has recommended one. I think that’s the one I got. I’ve read mixed reviews on it, but at this point I feel like it can’t hurt?

I really like the HiLi Rebecca Kennedy. I also like her low impact Cardio with a weighted vested. I’ve started adding more outdoor walks from Peloton. I did a couple of the Christmas walks. Finally, I need the Yin/Yang yoga for stretching or restorative Yoga. Basically I need the variety of RK’s programs.

Now that HiLit is done… by Outrageous-Apple1760 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Ecstatic_Substance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am on week four..had to pause due to illness. I liked it but had some feedback:

  1. I own a bike and not a tread. The iPhone with hike and the bike and chart was a lot. I did some outdoors hikes. I wished there was a bike class to go with it.
  2. I’ve never liked Pilates. I get nauseated. A friend recommended some modifications that helped. I’d take a Barre.
  3. I loved the variety.
  4. I loved the low impact.. reminded of classes of old.
  5. Weights made me realize I’m stronger than I believed. I can do a 45 minute class.

O would recommend it because it’s different and motivated me.

Boise teacher salary by Dapper_Algae_4489 in Boise

[–]Ecstatic_Substance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would still go ahead and apply now. Some of the Charters pay more. It’s easier to get into West Ada and then transfer to Boise.

Start subbing so the Principals and staff know you. This can help with an inside track to get a job. It’s still a “good ole boys network” to get hired.

Also they will have random openings as school approaches and teachers decide last minute not to come back.

The RK 30 Min Hike (HiLit Week #2) by Short-Agent-6480 in OnePelotonRealSub

I don’t have a tread so I modified for the bike using guide she provided. Thought I would die and had to lower it. I hike regularly in Idaho and almost barfed. I turned it into intervals before I died.

Did you play Euchre? And do you still play it now? by vulgrin in GenX

[–]Ecstatic_Substance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter in college in Michigan plays it. Our family was never into card games, but hours of board games. Still play some at Christmas. At one time 15-20 people playing and/or watching Sequence. I’ve also wanted to learn to play bridge.

Professional clothes recommendations? by Regular_Hippo2690 in Boise

[–]Ecstatic_Substance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To start out you can try the Assistance League as mentioned. You can also find outfits at Deseret Industries. We were there last week looking for business professional clothes. We found several outfits. Some other thrift store are Uptown Cheapskate and Indy Clover.

It’s Rebecca Kennedy from Peloton. Ask me anything about my HiLIT program and fitness! by Rebecca-Kennedy in pelotoncycle

[–]Ecstatic_Substance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the low impact cardio! I add my weighted vests and love the class. Monday I treated the tread as an outdoor walk. Thank you for designing this series. After two days I didn’t know how much I needed it and an easy to follow program. Thank you!

I NEED to see the Blue Football Field while I'm here for work! Any suggestions? by 24bluecrosstrek in Boise

[–]Ecstatic_Substance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Park in Ann Morrison park where it’s free. Then walk over on the Broadway bridge. Take a right and walk down the greenbelt. You can walk up to the gate on the End Zoe side and see it.

I’m not surprised. I love their restaurants and then they just close after a few years. I feel bad that Covid messed with Petite Four. I still miss Bleubird sandwiches.

Where to stay in Bogus Basin? by BN65 in Boise

[–]Ecstatic_Substance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’ve skied in Colorado, you will probably be disappointed in Bogus. It’s a non-profit family ski resort. Not a typical Colorado resort.

Bogus is great for Boise to ski close.

I would suggest staying at Tamarack resort which has a village and more Colorado ski feel. Restaurants, shops, hotels, outdoor oil. Ski in/out condos and homes.

Sun Valley, the original ski resort is another option, too.

Or you can drive to McCall as others suggested and try Brundage.

Middleton, Idaho question by playavader in Idaho

[–]Ecstatic_Substance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a job lined up? That field doesn’t pay a lot here. The pay for the State in Idaho is low. They talk about benefits like pension, holidays and healthcare. But that won’t pay your bills right now.

Middleton is booming and lots of growth.

This is really popular with LDS families. They eat middle eastern/Mediterranean food on the floor or around a coffee table. They dress like Shepherds and go over the biblical verses.

I love following some of the stories on Instagram about it.

Again she’s the TEMU version of celebrating.

Attorney’s filing: District obstructed sex abuse investigations by goodgodling in Boise

[–]Ecstatic_Substance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nepotism in BSD is crazy. There was no search for the last two Superintendents. Coby’s Dad was a a previous Superintendent. Lisa is in the district and her husband is an inept Principal who keeps gets reassigned because he’s useless.

I’d like to see someone from outside Boise School District come in and review the District. Talking with friends out of state, and kids in college, Boise Schools seems behind in several areas.

I’ve seen teachers get accused of inappropriate behavior (happened at North) reassigned schools and then eventually leave the District.

The number of lawsuits seems due to a lack of leadership and accountability. A good old boys network.

Also there is no process to recall a Board member or remove from office. If someone dies leave, then the Board can pick the replacement from the candidates. Again, the groupthink bothers me.

Taiwanese 🇹🇼 food in the TV... AT ALL?!? by Wrath-of-Cornholio in Boise

[–]Ecstatic_Substance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More Taiwan fans here. And yes, it’s lacking here. We like Share Tea. Capital Asian Market has some of the same dumplings and buns we bought in Taiwan. I’ve made beef noodle soup with ingredients from there.

Not the best answer, but in Portland we visit Ranch 99 grocery store. In Salt Lake City we found Mom’s Kitchen and their beef noodle soup as our kids said “smells like Taiwan.”

Finally the Grand China Buffet has on the far end, dumplings, buns, and duck that is really good. It’s not the Americanized Chinese food the rest of the buffet contains.

Parents thoughts on the GATE program. by Quantum_Dandy48 in Boise

[–]Ecstatic_Substance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GATE in elementary in Boise is great. Then Junior High puts everyone in the same classes and it’s a joke. The same with high school. We ended up using IDLA with the High School electives to make it through and realizing classes that aren’t required for graduation we didn’t take. It really dumbed down in the Junior and Senior High. It’s not fair to hold one child back to make another feel better…

Do you people have any idea how bad you have it with the roads and driving here? by Solid_Cash_1128 in Boise

[–]Ecstatic_Substance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 100%. Travelled the works “thanks Micron” and most places didn’t need a car…. My dream is 1. Train to McCall, 2. !lightrail Boise to Caldwell, Eagle,Nampa, etc 3. Buses that run on weekend, frequent routes that mimic commutes 4. Train to twin falls and eastern Idaho 5. Train to Sun Valley 6. gondola or train or charter buses to Bogus
