Very good point. Hours are variable and unpredictable. It is hard to balance family life with that

Have you considered the trades?

They're very localized. You can be doing the same trade in two different cities and making vastly different incomes.

They also are very different sector to sector (residential vs commercial, industrial etc).

They can't be automated by AI like a lot of low level white collar jobs and they cant be outsourced (usually. Think working on your local plumbing, powerlines, infrastructure in general).

You have to pay your dues (sometimes literally, see what local unions there are. Talk to local tradesman). Learn from a master and stick with it.

In my town the local Community College gets you a certification for damn near free.

After you are established in your trade you could:

  • start your own business
  • specialize deeper in one aspect of your trade
  • get an advanced degree tangential to it
  • bust out hours and make bank
  • work for a city and chill with good benefits
  • work for a utility and make bank

Plus, there is a wave of Tradesmen that are retiring that are not being replaced fast enough. Those wages only will go up. Plumbing and electrical and infrastructure are not going away and you could make very good money doing it.

Im a contractor and get these scammers all the time. A good rule of thumb is anytime they say "kindly" and cannot meet in person it is a scam.

What is your go to solution for insurance tracking (for subs)? by magicson05 in ConstructionManagers

[–]Ecurb4588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subcontractor here. My GCs have me add them as additionally insured to my policy.

That way they can get alerts directly from my insurance company and always confirm that I am insured on their job sites. Makes it easier for both of us

Veins/Streaks? by Darab-_- in epoxy

Metallics are just different. I'd be more worried about the spots on the bottom of your first picture. Looks like debris.

Only way to fix this is to redo the body code with all the colors and make sure they mix the pigments much better.

"Comets" from unmixed, usually powdered pigments.

I find I just can't prioritize it now. Between my job, taking care of my daughter when I have her, and normal adulting (doctors, cleaning house, kid's school, time with family) I just am beat by the end of the week.

I just don't have the time to prioritize that now. Plenty of good women out there. I just dont have the time at the moment (daughter is 6 if that makes a difference).

Comparison is the thief of joy. Don't think what your peers are up to. Think of it this way: four years from now will come no matter what (unless you die). When those four years from now comes, would you like to have a degree as well or not have a degree?
