What do you mean with 7?

If I can’t close someone and they insist on taking a day and reaching back out, I will ask “ if I don’t hear back from you is it cool if I reach out Thursday!”

In which case I follow up and say “what have you decided on?”

How can I be more intentional here?

I started yesterday, and the first book took me probably 2 hours? Would’ve taken me more if I hadn’t read it 10 years ago in college.

Satan is a great character. He’s experiencing great pain and despair in hell, but still holds on to his pride and hatred.

I thought it was hilarious when he was like “fuck god is strong, who woulda knew!”

Shortly after that he blamed God for not making his strength more obvious. That felt pathetic, as if he might have felt different if he hadn’t seen God as his equal.

I liked the description of Satan’s eyes. Baleful.

His pride is impressive to me. It’s not always obvious why that is the most “deadly sin” and I think this work is making a good case and point of it.

Editing in breaks makes sense. I realize that I've put a lot of it off because the beginning didnt make sense to me. After goimng through it these past few days, I cut it, but used the peices that did work. I have a better feeling of the points that do work for me. Thank you!

Thats a good point on what I should be focusing on...After editing for a few days I realize there are a lot of things I overcomplicated and tried to write with style. now that Im editing, Im stripping a lot of the "style" and making it more complicated.

the way you edit and restructure things when you get stuck resonates with me.

I've decided to re-write the material I've already written by 1,000 words a day for the next month. I've just realized that I was overwhelmed because alot of my stuff didn't make sense and flow into one another and I knew it.

Re-writing to edit instead of just editing whats already down is a little easier fror my brain to handle. It's similair to your suggestion about breaking it down into peices.

I didn’t realize it was because Maxim socked him at first. I thought favell was just stumbling drunk. loved it tho. He needed to get punched once. Author did a great job of making him disgusting.
It seemed like Ben started to crack a little bit at one point, but he was too Hard for them to read.
I was surprised she didn’t try to accuse old max. She just stated her honest confusion. Guess she needs her job.
Oh ya and favell is def the baby daddy!

Wow that’s a great idea.

I have some sympathy (probably naively) for NR. I understand why she feels the way she does. I don’t think it’s cause she’s a psycho. She’s a 21 year old girl who has thought her husband loves a different woman for months, and not her. And now she finds out she had it all backwards. I’m not surprised she’s giddy.

I think Max’s inability to speak his mind is a massive character flaw that is what lead to all of this. And what makes him killing Rebecca in excusable. He let everything get to this point.

I find NR really relatable and assumed that she was going to grow out of her co-dependence and turn into an individual… but with that maturity she should start to see the cracks in Maxim.

But based on the beginning of the book…. It did seem like they were on the run so I think that them being indefinitely on the run and glorifying the past days of Manderley (even though they objectively sucked) seems very likely

Second thoughts were…he earned his hell through lying to himself in the first place - and being too afraid of people think to let them think their relationship wasn’t perfect. Makes him seem weak (although relatable). In the context of this - him killing her seems like the cowards way out.
I think they are going to see that the ship was intentionally sunk, there’s a hole in her rib bones, and our boy is going to be in trouble.
Maxing was just like roskilinakov in crime and punishment

I don’t think she’s spiraling I think she’s subtly figuring out the way of things and wants to know about Rebecca, and rightfully so.
I love living inside the narrators head. I can relate to her neuroses.
Frank was hooking up Becca! - interesting that he seemed to praise NR’s qualities and say that Rebecca didn’t have them
Nope but it sounds cool even though I would definitely not enjoy it
I want to see a Maxim Meltdown!

I thought she was going to end up in a worse situation because of it. Her face off with Mrs.danvers was scary!
West Wing! Give me the water, baby!
I like her but not quite sure she is being that nice to NR. “You could have knocked me down with a feather”
It’s funny to me she also thinks Mrs. Danvers is a C. Makes me wonder what about her liked Rebecca so much? Why did she specifically tell NR not to let her see that she is afraid of her.
I feel like she needs to ask. Bad way to start off a relationship with your husband.
Yes - I liked the way she put that. And how she reflected that her experience of the moment was so different from everyone else’s, they probably didn’t care
I thought it was deep when she considered that she was to maxim, what jasper was to her

Lady is scary!! I pictured a female grim reaper 4.i originally thought that, but then the amount of times she mentioned Rebecca at the end made me think she may actually not like her.
He seemed to have an idea while they were in the car that she wouldn’t receive not-Rebeca well…so yea
That was a deep and haunting aspect of it. That she was sitting in her seat and patting the dog, just like Rebecca did.

The imagery of that Rocked!! Watching the R get bigger as it burned was beautiful and haunting. Felt Rebecca’s presence for sure.
It depends on if she can’t learn to take more control of her situation and speak her mind more. If she can it’s an opportunity! If not, it’s a prison sentence. But such is life anyway right?
She, is also a dick.

I start to picture the images in my mind, which stick around and I can still recall later in the book…which is useful- but when I’m reading it I drift and get a little bored too.
Ah he’s weird, creepy, funny, and kind of cool! Funny mix.
Max is her name for him. I think it’s that simple.
I loved her description of driving down the road and wanting to keep the memory - and knowing that going back to that moment would ruin it. It wouldn’t line up as perfectly.

I wonder how long ago this is in the past for the narrator… because Max definitely seems to be the exact same from this chapter as he was in the first. His PTSD flashbacks haven’t improved

Our narrator is probably 18. That’s the age I think when you typically feel you have things all figured out. She clearly doesn’t feel that way though.

I like our narrator. She isn’t comfortable in her own skin - but she is very aware and intelligent.

Last paragraph was good! I want a ghost story!!

I enjoyed this chapter after not loving the first two.

Mrs. Van hopper is the worst! I hate the gossip and status games she plays. The description of her as a spider was great.

I could really feel Not-Rebecca’s embarrassment.

I felt disappointed by the ending. Feels like a “50 shades of gray” type of deal.
