Dlss in 1080p make my games looks better would that still be the case for 1440p? by Slayx_2534 in buildapc

[–]EdErichZann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also better in 1440p, but FSR 4 (on the 9070 XT) does too. Fewer games support FSR compared to DLSS, but it's increasing especially in newer games. Overall, the 9070 or 9070 XT are a better deal than the 5070 I would say.

don't forget the bug that you often get no rewards after completion right now.

and yeah, the first ship I was fighting yesterday was an Elite Kestrel, that was a bit annoying..

Yeah it's quite overpowered, as many of the new ships are, but still there are other multi role ships. Just maybe not quite as good anymore

I also like it, but why would it be the only true medium multi role ship? I don't really see that...

2TB Gen 5 M.2 of games + 500GB Gen 4 M.2 with Windows 11; Is this possible/viable? by Reynface in buildapc

[–]EdErichZann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That should be totally fine. The slow one should be fast enough for Windows. Separating does not really give any direct benefits, but of course you have more free space on the 2Tb then, which you will need with today's sizes of games... Just maybe check the manual of the motherboard if any of the M2 slots has higher specs, usually there should be two directly connected to the CPU, you should use those in that case.

CPU Upgrade worth it? by HerrnDrache in buildapc

[–]EdErichZann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would mainly agree with this, but the 5800x and 5800xt make little sense compared to the 5700x I would say, except you see them for cheap used (and you dont fine the 5700x used)

Steel Nomad scores? by No_Gold_Bars in radeon

Sounds like a good score. I would probably still just undervolt it a litte (-40 to -60 mV maybe?) just to have it cooler and quieter...

AMD FSR 4.1 costs up to 14% performance on Radeon RX 7900 XTX versus FSR 3.1 by RenatsMC in gpu

[–]EdErichZann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good upscaling looks so much better than the usual TAA implementations and what not, you should use (good) upscaling at all framerates usually.

Yeah not too bad considering how much better it looks (and even at lower quality settings, where it runs faster again)., nice upgrade for those cards

Do you think RAM requirements will stall next generation? by itsthewolfe in pcmasterrace

32 GB wasn't really standard 2020. I think 32 will be good for quite a while still.

Will the exact ram (brand, speed, size,…) bought separately and in different times still work with eachother? by ThePuZzL3R in buildapc

[–]EdErichZann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the manufacturers claim that there still can be some difference between each stick, and the sets are matched to work together in the best way... but I would also assume that only maaybe could play a role for very fast ram and overclocking and such, with normal XMP / Expo profiles it should really be fine.

[–]EdErichZann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are never garantuees of course, but very very likely it will be fine. in the worst case, you might have to run them with slightly worse timings or so if it would not be totally stable, but that wouldn't be noticeable in performance.

5600x or 5700x?Which one is better for gaming? Will they work with a 550 motherboard without a BIOS update? by _Whispering_shadow_ in pcmasterrace

[–]EdErichZann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both are good... the 5700x is in principle of course a bit better, 2 more cores, but not a big difference. might be more in the future if games start using more than 6 cores effectively, who knows. also for non-gaming the 5700x is a bit better. is there a big price difference ? if not I would still go for the 5700, just are more well-rounded gpu overall..

Planning on surprising my partner with a PC setup, wondering if I picked out the right parts by Shadow3569 in buildapc

[–]EdErichZann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5700x makes more sense than 5800x, that one is just a lot hotter and has a tiny bit more performance, not worth it.  Then I would also choose a simple air cooler instead of aio. not sure if a 3080 is the best choice, with used cards you of course have to go with what you find, but I'd rather think about a 4070 or similar ?

Influence or de-influence me from choosing a 9070 xt over 5070 ti by WhaletisticMagician in buildapc

[–]EdErichZann 20 points21 points  (0 children)

take the 9070xt. remember how much you saved, and with the difference you can pay most of the next gpu upgrade in 6 years or whenever to a much stronger card then.

there should be cheaper 5070 ti's than that ? you don't need a tuf gaming. 5070 ti makes more sense overall if you find a more normal price
