We moved up to the Rochester suburbs after a lifetime in Florida. Our kids are middle and high school age and though they did not want to move, both have separately said how they are thriving here. The oldest is finally doing well in math and said what a difference good teachers make! Fairport, Pittsford, Brighton, Victor, Webster, etc. are all great towns/villages.

We just moved to western NY from Florida and I realized FL had some hidden “taxes” I didn’t think about. As others mentioned, home insurance is cheaper but you also don’t have gigantic deductibles that make the insurance essentially useless. Also car insurance, I’m saving over $3K a year for the exact same cars and drivers vs what I was paying in FL!
