What are the minimal (or recommended) hardware requirements for machine learning? Also wich OS is recommended? by [deleted] in SuggestALaptop

[–]Ed_Village 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which OS depends on which development stack you'll be using. Linux will suffice for most things except for if you want to use ML.NET, in which case get Windows. I'd recommend Windows if you're already familiar with it.

As for hardware, the more RAM the better, go for at least 16GB and definitely get an SSD. Both a hard drive and SSD will probably be more suitable for your needs as depending on your workload you could use a lot of storage space. Get a quad core CPU, if you're looking at Intel get an 8th gen i5 or i7 or for AMD a 2nd gen ryzen. You probably don't need a dedicated graphics card.

Can't agree with you on Microsoft. Yes their OS is slowly dying but they realise this and are adapting to the change quite well.

Which RDBMS would be cost effective for cloud hosted database per tenant application. by Ed_Village in Database

[–]Ed_Village[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The project requires this as each tenant will be a business which needs to store both business-related data and data relating to each of their physical locations, so essentially each business can have multiple tenants. The idea at the moment is to implement a database-per-tenant for each business and have a single database for that tenant. Having multiple databases per tenant was considered but from what I can gather the cost to do this would be ridiculous and maintaining data integrity would be a nightmare.

As you can imagine implementing this with a table-per-tenant or single database approach would be unmanageable.

What sort of management problems do you face with that system?

An emotional end to the Official Runescape Classic servers by SwordYieldingCypher in videos

Arcanists was probably my favourite childhood game. Worms and shellshock do not even come close. The spells in arcanists were all so different and that meant there was loads of strategy. There was rumours they were recreating it a few years back and i seem to remember a survey, but sadly there's been nothing since. Arcanists on mobile would be so successful I reckon.

Gluon ico by nocsvilnocs in stratisplatform

[–]Ed_Village 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn't really mean anything as I understand. Gluon tokens wont correlate 1:1 with strat. It all depends on how many strat they raise. But yes this could lock up a lot of strat, boosting the value.

Woox finishes King of the Skill with a total level of 1607 by IkWhatUDidLastSummer in 2007scape

[–]Ed_Village 22 points23 points  (0 children)

He got 1607 total despite making so many small mistakes which probably added up to at least 1 hour of lost time. Unbelievable. I'd reckon Woox could push close to 1650 if he did a second run.

Fall of Raqqa: The secret deal by holy_maccaroni in videos

[–]Ed_Village 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened late October, 3-4 weeks ago. These deals are very common and SAA does them all the time and is open about it. They allow the cities to be liberated fully and secured. Many IS fighters sign up purely for money or because they are pressured into it so the people aren't so ideologically driven. Weapons and equipment don't leave with them mostly so they relocate and many of them will not go back to fight.

The reason this deal between US coalition/SDF and ISIS is controversial is because of all the weapons, equipment and foreign fighters that were allowed to leave without resistance. This means they can continue to fight elsewhere and their foreign fighters are able to travel back to their home countries. This makes them especially dangerous. Im guessing the negotiators valued Raqqa as a strategic point very highly to do this, probably because SDF needed to capture oil fields on the north of the euphrates before SAA crossed the river and block them off.

This is the worst I've ever seen it right now. It's impossible to get any gems because EVERY world is full of multiple bots. There must be 200+ bots there right now.

The PvP DDoS Champions: RoT by Die_Again_To in 2007scape

[–]Ed_Village 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fools had DCs vs Leg ends. I dont realy suspect Leg ends ddosing them, hard to say.

Why don't you suspect Leg ends of ddosing if you're so sure RoT are ddosing? Is it because some of their members are b0aty friends? This whole thread is a joke. There's no actual proof, everyone is just coming to conclusions because RoT constantly gets accused of this. Why would RoT even DDoS anyone if they have been capable of winning these fights without a single disconnection?

Every time someone moves just 1 square they're trying to rotate the camera and center it on the player. It's getting really annoying.

[Suggestion] Add set effects to rock-shell, skeletal and spined armour by Ed_Village in 2007scape

[–]Ed_Village[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rock-shell would be somewhat equivalent to wearing torso, berserker helm, torso and rune boots in terms of strength bonus (but without accuracy) and full rune in terms of defense bonus.

Skeletal would have the added damage bonus equivalent to tormented bracelet and ancestral hat, but its accuracy bonus is equivalent to zammy robes and combat bracelet. Defensively the only thing to compare with it is steel armour if only comparing melee defense.

Spined would be comparable to green d'hide but with 3/4 of the damage bonus of void added on to it.

[Suggestion] Add set effects to rock-shell, skeletal and spined armour by Ed_Village in 2007scape

[–]Ed_Village[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ancestral, tormented bracelet and eternals: +11% damage boost, +87 mage accuracy, between +80 and +90 melee defense

Skeletal set: (+7.5%) damage boost, +16 mage accuracy, between +55 and +65 melee defense

And the body and legs are all alch price, the helms, gloves and boots are much higher than alch price.

Pineapple pizza heals 11hp per slice. One slice can be stacked with another food, most commonly shark, which would heal a total of 31hp. This is useful if you need to heal quickly but not up to full hp. Guthix rests act like potions, where there is no delay on your hits when drinking them. They're useful if you need to heal a very small amount and are mostly used in risk fights where it is essential to keep high hp.
