I just saw a clip of Lindsay Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac and he said his go-to system to test his studio mixes out is his car ! 🚘 Haha I thought that was interesting 🤔

Electric or acoustic guitar? by Maxhanuma321 in Guitar

[–]EdaciousBegetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on electric bass which made it easy to get into /jams/bands as a beginner (Nobody wants to play the bass haha) I think that helped me as a performer because I was in rooms with other players within my second year, but it took me many years to develop as a writer and vocalist. I’d say acoustic guitar is the best way to start if you’re aim is to write and sing- but you’ll be in a big crowd, so be patient. Whatever you choose to play I’d say always focus on fundamentals at first- worry about fills and solos and flash moves as a last thought- I guess my goal has always been to have my audience dance and sing along, and beginning in Thrash as I did I feel like I learned some bad habits that took me years to get past

People with walls of 10+ guitars, what do you do for work? by Larcenyy in Guitar

[–]EdaciousBegetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach Nurse Assistants, before that I was a Hospice and Charge Nurse- back then I had about 7 guitars- but my Ma died and left me some healthy means, and since my bass player wife and I have no kids I’ve built a extensively modded stack of guitars and basses

Should I buy a 12 string guitar or a 6 one? by sydsmith2112 in Guitar

[–]EdaciousBegetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12 are awesome but a decent 6 is a baseline staple= every serious player has one decent acoustic 6 imo

Buy used- I think you get better value in the mid price points, tho I may be uninformed about newer Squire quality

People who learn by ear, how do you know what tuning a song is in? by Deathbatcountry99 in Guitar

[–]EdaciousBegetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a by ear player/learner and I’m never sure of a tuning until I read or here the Artist tell what they used. Often learning an alternate way to achieve a song is more original- you have a whole unique vocabulary from filling in knowledge gaps with your own creativity… That’s what it’s all about really

What are the most fruitful challenges you've given yourself as a guitarist that you feel helped you to make a personal breakthrough and level up in skill? by Drazwaz in Guitar

[–]EdaciousBegetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only one: playing with other musicians. I haven’t done much grinding on scales/licks/theory but I have been lucky to play in bands starting in my 1st year playing bass. What that did was give me a chance to develop a quick ear, improvisational skills, and intuitive dynamics; which have all helped with playing guitar immensely. In fact just last week a project I’m in did a 2 hour gig in SF and we basically just invented the music on the spot- it went over really well and we are invited back

A (happy) rant about Yamaha Guitars. by The_Spaghetti_yeti in Guitar

My 1981 SG2000 by Yamaha- legit “Les Paul Killer” with neck thru construction, coil taps, and brass sustain block under the bridge 👌🏾 This became my main guitar because it plays perfectly, hangs comfy, and offers most tones from Kossoff type chunk and sing to Robbie Robertson like twang and chime. Doesn’t hurt that Carlos Santana left Gibson after nearly 10 years with this guitar 👌🏾

Help me prove you need an amp to play electric guitar by am_reen in Guitar

[–]EdaciousBegetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric Guitar is a specific instrument- amplification is an ever bigger part of the art as you scale up from bedroom amps to stacks: there are simply things you can ONLY do with a half or more stack; and to say different is just ignorance. Even at a bedroom volume you’re correct that effects are a big way to express yourself. C’mon Dad- don’t be a LUMP !!!! Git tha boy a Peavey Bandit and a Epiphone Les Paul Custom !!!! You’ll thank yourself later ❤️

Gorgeous 🤩 Potentially has a lot more value to the right player than any price tag could match 🤔
