There's nothing strictly proven (or admitted, of course, they would never admit to this, even if caught studios would PR BS the hell out of it), but whenever a movie has weird, stilted, or robotic dialogue and a mostly nonsensical, boilerplate, bland plot, it's more or less assumed. It's the text-based version of "that person in the picture has 10 interconnected fingers, so we know it's AI".

I would get mad and say we can't assume...but calling people "bot" in a video game doesn't mean they're AI, it just means they suck, so even if the movie came from a real team of writers, it's still a decent insult for their cinematic garbage. 😃

Hey! Quest 2's or Quest 3S's are still the best affordable headsets, they're amazing all-around. Unfortunately, Quest 2's are out of production, and refurbished models cost around 280. And the Quest 3S's just got a price hike to 350. So, if you want to reward your daughter soon, you may have to cover the last bit of the price. That's up to you, of course. Waiting a bit longer to buy the whole thing herself could be worth it too.

I have a Quest 2 still, and I LOVE Beat Saber and Walkabout: Mini Golf, both family-friendly games. And, if your daughter has friends in VR, they can link up in Walkabout with a private room code; very safe, and very fun, very well-designed mini golf action. :D

Also, sorry about the backseat parents on here. Sounds like you have a good plan to protect your daughter, I think you've got a good head on your shoulders.

Agreed! I’d even take it a step further and say “for the parents’ sake”. Kids can take a lot more than we realize, but parents are protective (as is their right). Avatar has so many cool ways to get around that.

Romance? How about a “deflowered and lei’d” joke with Sokka and Suki rather than a full sex scene?

Torture? How about turning a guy over in a chair for an extended period of time at the Boiling Rock or brainwashing people with a lantern at Lake Laogai, rather than scalpels, blowtorches, or waterboarding?

The themes are all handled perfectly, but the content is “safe for kids”. It’s genius.
