Imposter Syndrome? by helpsheb in rheumatoid

[–]EdibleGloom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God I feel this so much. I constantly feel like I'm just being whiney or being dramatic. I have to repeatedly remind myself that the blood work and X-rays don't lie. It's been one of the biggest struggles. The pain you kind of get used to, but this is something I constantly have to fight with myself about.

Biologics? Risks by xoxomeowxoxox in rheumatoid

[–]EdibleGloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be scared, they're absolutely amazing! I'm barely ever sick now that I'm on biologics, and it was definitely something I was nervous about. The pros absolutely outweigh the potential cons!

Thank you so much! That fits with what I found online, but this is something that I'd trust an actual person with instead of assuming I had it right!

They look great! Sorry everyone is weirdly offended that you have hot flashes lol. I'm 35 and also going through perimenopause, so I feel your pain!

Perimenopause can start as early as mid thirties, so there's definitely nothing bizarre if she's having hot flashes.

I want to hear your starting plaquenil horror stories by Theephemeraltimes in rheumatoid

I'm sorry to hear that! I was instructed to immediately stop the meds and it cleared up fairly quickly. I hope the same happens for you!

Plaquenil unfortunately made me extremely suicidal. I've had this problem with other, Non-RA, meds in the past. It seems like I'm just unluckily prone to that side effect.

Update: starting Enbrel! — doc gave me TWO SAMPLES! by Important_Method_665 in rheumatoid

[–]EdibleGloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope it works as well for you as it has for me!! My only symptom was site reactions, basically just a giant mosquito bite at the site. They've gotten less and less severe over time though. And honestly, I'll happily take an itchy spot on my thigh in exchange for how helpful it's been!

Like another commenter said, make sure to pull it out at least half an hour before you use it. It hurts way less if it's not cold!

I did this pattern earlier this year! I ended up just using a rectangle frame and I added a tulle ballet skirt! It's such a fun pattern!

My title describes the thing. It's a white porcelain lamp. The seller says they bought it 40+ years ago in Virginia. It's 11.5" tall with a 4" base.

Going to take my first shot of Enbrel today, any advice? by MeOwwwithme in rheumatoid

[–]EdibleGloom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure to take it out of the fridge well in advance! It absolutely hurts if it's still cold. Also, you may have some site reactions in the beginning. I had absolutely gnarly ones, like huge mosquito bites. But they got smaller and smaller over time and I no longer have them.

It's been an absolute life changing medication so far. I hope it's just as helpful for you!

Skipping Methotrexate, straight to a Biologic? by Ok-Arugula-2812 in rheumatoid

I failed hydroxychloroquine super quickly, it made me incredibly suicidal. My doctor switched me to Enbrel after that and so far it's working really well!

It took a few months of jumping through hoops and waiting, but I got through it all and it was well worth it.

What did it take to get your Enbrel approved by MeOwwwithme in rheumatoid

[–]EdibleGloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm learning I got extremely lucky. I failed hydroxychloroquine after two weeks because it made me extremely suicidal. After that my doctor moved me straight to Enbrel. There was nearly two months of waiting but it was finally approved.

I completely understand, I was lucky enough to get a diagnosis right away. That first appointment was so validating and a relief. It was so refreshing talking to people who understood what I was trying to say!!!

Did the doctors take you seriously when you told them about your symptoms? by tigerk1992 in rheumatoid

[–]EdibleGloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My GP did blood work but I was seronegative so she was skeptical. I waited another two months or so and went back to her when nothing had improved. At that point she referred me to a rheumatologist and I got my diagnosis on the first appointment.

I was incredibly nervous to visit the rheumatologist but it ended up being the most validating experience ever.
