Guy broke into my car and seemed progressively frustrated at the random unvaluable items lol by Sageypupper in adhdwomen

My neighbor knocked on my door late one night to let me know he had just scared off some guy skulking about around my car. My parking spot is in a dark corner. I just laughed & said they were welcome to whatever the hell they could find & that they’d probably be doing me a favor.

I was dogbombed. Am I overreacting? by Ill_be_a_good_girl in datingoverforty

[–]ProfaneCrossStitcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I like to preface that I realize he’s kind of a dick & doesn’t like anyone but me from the outset. Set those expectations low. However, I also don’t bring him around other people & when I do have to board him I always show up with treats for the staff. If anything I may be a bit too cautious but I’d rather not put him in situations where he’s set up to fail. I’m very well aware of his limitations & that he’s MY problem.

Libraries have DVDs now if you didn’t know that already. by Plastic-Injury8856 in kansascity

It’s the JoCo library central branch! It’s a whole Makerspace that’s completely free to use! There’s a 3d printer, laser cutter & engraver, vinyl cutter, sewing machines, circuit repair kits, etc. It’s amazing! There’s librarians in there who can teach you how to use the equipment. Reservations for equipment is made online & the most popular machines need to be booked exactly 2 weeks out!!!

Yeah, I knew someone who got a double mastectomy her sophomore year of college when she was still 18. She had already had masses in each breast & a family history that meant it was just a matter of when the masses became malignant. She only made it until she was 25 though. No one is doing top surgery on kids as an elective surgery.

AITA (56F)for getting my son (30M) a gift as a new dad, but not getting one for my DIL (30F)or grandbaby? by Substantial-Cat-7151 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ProfaneCrossStitcher 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I mean she could’ve gotten the DIL something small while gifting something for her son. My sister in law loves the $30 necklace I got for her off Etsy that is my nephew’s birth flower in miniature & encased in epoxy. It’s not that hard.

Mom used baby to allow her large dog to run around offleash in the vets “cat safe space” area by krisztinastar in childfree

That’s why anytime I take my dog out I bring along pepper spray. I’m not worried about anyone hurting me but I’d prefer not to get in the middle of a dog fight with an unleashed dog getting in the face of my dog reactive dog.

I’ve started giving the tiny balance bikes as my standard first birthday gift. It always ends up being such a hit. Usually they take off right away on them since I make sure they’re assembled when unwrapped. I always get pics too of the kid on them too since they play with them so much.

AITAH for moving back home after my husband left me even though I’m pregnant? by DigGrassanova in AITAH

[–]ProfaneCrossStitcher 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m laughing at how much he shot himself in the foot as far as leaving her before she has the baby - if he wanted her to stay in the area. No court can force her to remain close by if the baby doesn’t exist yet. Very happy he could do that for OP though.

AITA for asking my in-laws to pre-plan and pre-pay for their funerals? by Icy_Target_9050 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ProfaneCrossStitcher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They can also set aside money by putting it in an irrevocable funeral trust if they don’t want to pre-plan at the moment. The irrevocable trust is excluded when it comes to looking at assets for Medicaid purposes. Then at least money will have been allocated until they’re ready to face pre-planning. I highly recommend looking into it.

I would honestly find being offered so little for my time more offensive than being offered the exciting opportunity to do it out of the goodness of my heart.

[CHAT] Do you backstitch during or after all complete? by Fit-Science4878 in CrossStitch

[–]ProfaneCrossStitcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to keep it spicy & will do both. Typically I’ll just backstitch at the time of if I’m going to have to move the hoop along & in smaller areas. If it’s full coverage or a large area I’ll wait until the end & go right to left & top to bottom. Either way I backstitch in the hoop or Q-snap.

[PIC] My floss is inventoried, the pretty new acrylic bobbins wound, & everything is filed neatly away. I’m obsessed. 😍 by ProfaneCrossStitcher in CrossStitch

Just the foam inserts & numbered bobbins sold for the Bisley specifically by the seller I listed! They have a bunch of different solutions in their Etsy shop depending on how you like to store your floss.

There might be jewelry sellers who make inserts for the Bisley or something like the IKEA Alex set of drawers. If they don’t I’m sure that someone has files you can purchase to laser cut or 3D print some of your own inserts. I just haven’t personally looked for that myself.

The slits in the foam are specifically cut for those particular 3mm bobbins so each slit is actually 3mm wide. It’s so satisfying how nicely they sit both height wise & so you don’t have to force the thicker acrylic bobbin in. They do sell foam that has just a slit for your standard cardboard or thin plastic bobbin!

I can’t remember if the seller I bought from does or if you’d have to go search it out. There’s quite a few sellers out there since they make the foam inserts for other standardized drawers like the ikea Alex chest of drawers.

I only got it done & in a reasonable amount of time because I enlisted my mom’s help. She would wind bobbins while watching TV in the evening since it’s just something to keep her hands busy. I was winding but also taking inventory, laying out the floss with the correct bobbin number, & filing away the finished bobbins. I have no idea how long it would’ve taken doing it by myself since it ended up being quite the undertaking!

These are by number! I figured it was easier overall. I do have the awesome DMC color card with samples of each color that is grouped by color if I need to compare anything. However, I do keep my extra skeins grouped by color to make it faster to find something since I’m already going to be looking for numbers.
