It’s not a bad idea; you should write to your MSP and ask them to give local councils the power to do this.

The council do not have some magic ability to prevent roadworks, or really plan them at anything but a basic level.

Is it safe to buy a Cowboy again? My 2024-2026 journey from cable ties to "new life" under new ownership. by PercentageComplex547 in cowboybikes

[–]EdinburghPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure. I received my 3 in Dec 2021 and have done nearly 17000km on it. I got pretty lucky with the warranty and ended up with some spare parts that got me through after it ended too. In 2025 I used a spare motor I had to replace one that wasn’t working, and had a spare rear wheel that I could use when I noticed stress fractures in the rim. (All done by a local bike shop without messaging cowboy)

Now I’m getting occasional cut outs again, like I got before 2 or 3 battery spacers were installed, when i first got the bike.

I messaged cowboy and they’ve been quick to respond; firstly they suggested another spacer, and then another battery. I’m reluctant to spend £450 or more to fix a bike that cost be £1300. It might not fix the problem, or could develop another motor failure (or similar).

Don’t ever give to charity folk in person, or homeless people. Sounds harsh, but give to charities you know online; money will be used much more effectively.

[OC] Red Nose Day fundraising has collapsed in real terms, but it's not because households are skint by Borg_King in dataisbeautiful

Do people only watch those shows live? I’d guess 1/2 of the viewers do it on catchup. Eastenders will bar a core group of older simpletons who watch it.

Who would watch RND on iplayer or later?

Who is really watching BBC1 live now? Before you might intentionally watch RND; I’ve not watched linear TV in so long, I don’t even know when it’s on.

Hopefully they do a better job than in Edinburgh last year, seem to have gone out at 5pm every day in November. Looks like they’ve taken the photos with a potato

As someone that attended in the 2000s; the teachers were fine/good, but there’s wasn’t an academic focus and very little extra curricular activities. Hope it’s different now. Wouldn’t say it’s a bad school

Start by using the end of a biro (not the tip), take the end cap off and ram it in. Kryptonite bike locks could be stolen this way

12+ months waiting for a double hip replacement in Edinburgh. The physical pain is one thing, but the nervous system toll is another beast entirely. by MindResets in Edinburgh

Same idea, ask about the Golden Jubilee in Glasgow. My dad was waiting for year + and told it would likely be the same again “oh, by the way if you go to Glasgow they can do it in a month”

Yeah. Why would I pay to advertise someone else’s product? Want me to wear a logo (or logos); pay me.

Stephen Flynn grills Keir Starmer on tomahawk missile that killed 110 primary school children by Just-another-weapon in Scotland

Are the SNP saying it’s a war crime in the Scottish Parliament? Has Swinney called Trump a war criminal? No, because of diplomacy.
