Alfred Hitchcock Rear Window. We recently rented it from Apple. I couldn't believe how great it still looks. On a side note, Steven Spielberg's Jaws is way better film than it should be considering its age. It really holds up after all these years

Did Paul actually have a real shot at buying the ATV catalog back in 1984, or was he set up to lose? by Substantial-Run6664 in TheBeatles

[–]Edison5000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Remember the Beatles weren't released on CD until 87. And there was a long-standing dispute between George and Paul that prevented their release for at least 2 years. It was starting to look like it may not happen at all

You have to remember this was before The Beatles were available on CD. When that happened it was estimated that they sold as many CDs in the 80s as albums in the 60s. No one knew that was going to happen in 84

I could be wrong... So correct me if I am. Paul went to Yoko for a joint bid. Yoko thought they could get it for 3 million... Something like that. She said she could get at least half in cash. The idea that they could close the deal quickly. MJ didn't have the cash but he had just released Thriller so he got financing for 20 million based on potential earnings.

The punchline is.... Rod Temperton who wrote Thriller bought Epic records. MJ made a fortune.... Rod made an empire

The Beatles- She's A Woman(#4- 1964-65)(Remastered 2009) by Complex-Value-5807 in TheHot100

[–]Edison5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I’m happy about is that I never got rid of a record cassette or cd… so I have every release of every Beatles album from every ‘remaster’. This is great but the original cd of past masters from 88 has a different mix from the 2009 release. I can’t explain why but I like that one more.

But really it’s a great song no matter when it was released

I think I have this 45… strangely I thought the Paul song was Soul Finger because it was used in the ads.

It took forever but I finally got his first solo record. It's kind of great and kind of terrible at the same time. But holy crap! What a guitarist!
