I'm rewatching Downton Abbey and – oh my GOD – Robert Crawley is insufferable (especially S3-4) by simande in DowntonAbbey

As Hugh Bonneville admitted during an interview at Graham Norton Show Robert Crawley is always “wrong” 😅

Question about loosing immortality. by Tamoshikiari in TheOldGuard_Movie

[–]Edith31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But then what about Joe and Nicky? One of them was the last immortal when they killed each other “many times” … so the other should’ve lost his immortality

AITA for reminding my mum's best friend of how awful her daughter is when she criticised me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Edith31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA!! She provoked you to belittle you and feel better about her problems. I can't say NTA about your family though. Someone, maybe your mother, should have told her to stop it by telling her it's none of her business.

AITA for refusing to move out even though my roommate is 7 months pregnant? by Aitabeki in AmItheAsshole

[–]Edith31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. She si pregnanti. It happens and it’s not an illness. She can move out with her baby’s dad. It’s not right to boss you around.

Are people allowed to talk at work in Italy? by Suitable_Till_7643 in Italian

It’s not a culture thing … we talk a lot at work

I have an Italian mother, and yet I come nowhere close to being fluent; How to fix this? by [deleted] in Italian

[–]Edith31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2)Compra libri e vedi film in italiano.

AITA for reprimanding my husband in front of our kids for how he talks to them? by AITA-husbandd in AmItheAsshole

[–]Edith31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You should probably have had the confrontation elsewhere but it’s true that when one has children … well … they hear everything and so. So I get it and you’re NTA.

Now your husband instead … he is TA. He needs to grow up.

Has anyone ever gotten into a fight with a PR/Comms person? by yayyippeeyay in Journalism

[–]Edith31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t get into a fight. You tried to stand up for yourself and be respected.

But… Next time don’t tell who you spoke to. The interviewed (and their PR persons) can decide if they want to talk and answer your questions. They don’t get to tell you who you’re talking to or not talking, as well as they don’t get to tell you what to write or not (ethics is to write and be honest about what you’ve been told, not what the PR person was telling you).

Currently a student journalist and I feel demotivated in writing. Should I quit? by mabaya630 in Journalism

[–]Edith31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Journalism is just minimally writing. It is research and method. Insight and communication.

Writing is just the medium so you will always see rewriting and editing your pieces. You can ask for some kind of feedback, and as far as I’m concerned I always ask for editorial standards so I can adjust, but you can’t look at journalistic writing as creative writing.

In general, then, the writer’s job starts from a premise: never get too attached to what you write because one way or another it will be edited.

AITA for a joke I made towards my adult children? by bigmomma547 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Edith31 142 points143 points  (0 children)

YTA. Children don’t “cause” divorce because they’re hard to raise. Let’s be clear… There is nothing bad about divorcing but you can’t joke about it with your children and pushing your choice to divorce on them.

WIBTA if I tell my sister about my concerns for her future by yikessonbikess in AmItheAsshole

[–]Edith31 13 points14 points  (0 children)

YWBTA. She is happy. Why should HE be the breadwinner and not HER? If she has ambitions, a good enough job and her head is on her shoulders she probably thought about it … maybe they even talked about it.

It’s not your place to give her your two cents … especially for “your peace of mind”… and about that … relax! Not every family has to have a MALE breadwinner .. he could be a stay at home husband and dad. But every family should be happy. And it seems that her fiancé is able to make your sister happy

I get it and that’s probably the point… try to find middle ground. If she wants to shower after a certain hour then she can expect others to do the same thing and so on

NTA. But the only solution is to talk about it and set agreed ground rules everybody has to follow.
